Description
Kakeru Daichi arrived at Kitahara Elementary School, joining its struggling soccer team, the Kitahara Kickers. The team, considered the province's weakest after 23 consecutive losses, was demoralized and near disbandment. Kakeru's bright, positive personality immediately energized them; he consistently encouraged teammates during training and matches, revitalizing their spirit.

Before transferring, he gained experience with "The Falcons," a famous club's youth team. Coaches from champion teams recognized his skill and tried to recruit him, but Kakeru declined. His goal was to win the national tournament with the Kickers and promote soccer's popularity across Japan.

Shortly after joining, he challenged Nanyo FC, the province's strongest team, to a penalty shootout. The stakes were a friendly match if Kakeru scored at least one goal against their renowned goalkeeper, Hikaru Uesugi. Kakeru succeeded, scoring with a move where he lifted the ball with his feet. This victory significantly boosted the Kickers' morale and solidified their commitment to soccer.

When pressured by the basketball captain to abandon their training field for tarnishing the school's reputation, Kakeru relocated practices to a nearby Shinto shrine to avoid conflict. As the team's ace striker and primary scorer, wearing the number 10 jersey, his determination was clear. This was evident in matches like the Kickers' 10-1 loss to the "Red Devils," where his lone goal was considered a small miracle against their undefeatable goalkeeper.

He developed a romantic interest in Akuna Yukie, Hikaru Uesugi's younger sister, depicted as a fragile pianist. This relationship, along with team dynamics, sometimes affected his focus but added depth to off-field interactions. His leadership extended beyond gameplay; he fostered teamwork during conflicts, like when a talented but disruptive player named Harry temporarily split the team. Kakeru's resilience was tested by an injury from a motorbike accident, yet his dedication never wavered.

His unwavering spirit and emphasis on collective effort transformed the Kickers from underdogs into competitive national tournament participants. His refusal to surrender, combined with his ability to inspire teammates through encouragement and example, remained central to his character. The team progressed to the championship semi-finals, though they were ultimately eliminated after Uesugi blocked Kakeru's final shot in a critical match.

Kakeru's influence persisted through subsequent challenges, including rival team confrontations and internal struggles, reinforcing his role as both a skilled athlete and unifying force. His background as a substitute for a top-tier team before transferring, alongside his commitment to the Kickers' original members, defined his journey across all seasons and narrative arcs.
