Description
Miyori's paternal grandfather lives with his wife in a village bordering a forest. When Miyori's parents separate and her mother leaves, her father brings Miyori to stay with them, believing nature will help her through the upheaval better than the city. Grandpa provides a stable home, though Miyori initially resents the move and feels abandoned.

His presence in the village stretches back decades. Years earlier, during a family picnic when Miyori was a toddler, his dog Kuro tracked the missing child to an ancient cherry tree deep in the woods. There, she was found interacting with a bear cub and spirits of the forest. This event cemented Grandpa's long connection to the place and its mystical nature. While his wife serves as the recognized human guardian of the forest and the village wise woman, Grandpa supports the household and Miyori's adjustment to rural life. He exhibits a kind and accommodating nature, offering Miyori stability during her transition to the village and her grandparents' care.
