Description
Honoka Kawai is a mysterious figure originating from the conflict surrounding the artificial intelligence Nerval. Roughly fifty years before the main events, she defected from Nerval alongside individuals who became the Shishido family elders. During this era, she forged a significant alliance with Kagura, united by their shared hatred for Nerval and participation in historic battles.
She possesses mint green or blue short hair, green eyes, and stands 1.52 meters tall. Typically reserved and stoic, she displays minimal outward emotion in daily interactions. This shifts dramatically during combat or situations concerning Leopard's well-being, where her focus intensifies.
As an Ex-QT, Honoka possesses inherent quantum energy manipulation capabilities, enabling telekinetic and combat feats; activating these powers causes her eyes to glow red. She pilots the war-era anthropomorphic mecha Wygar QT-ARMS, standing approximately 6.85 meters tall and armed with a bow firing energy projectiles. After its destruction in a confrontation against Takane, she acquires a replacement QT-ARMS resembling the EXISTENCE units used by Nami.
Upon boarding the vessel Leopard, she enrolls in Surre Academy primarily to remain near Akiha Shishido, whom she designates as "The Girl Who Leapt Through Space." While initially appearing detached, Honoka develops substantial trust in Akiha, demonstrating willingness to operate at her physical and emotional limits for Akiha's benefit.
Honoka faces significant personal challenges due to her temporal displacement. Re-emerging after five decades, she struggles to reconcile the societal and interpersonal changes that occurred during her absence, particularly in her relationships with Kagura and Friedrich. Concurrently, she acknowledges her lifespan is nearing its conclusion.
The character appears across official media, including the anime series, light novels such as *The Girl Who Leapt Through Space Prologue: Akiha*, manga series *The Girl Who Leapt Through Space D* and *The Girl Who Leapt Through Space R*, and the video game *The Girl Who Leapt Through Space Shooting*.
