Saturn serves as a Commander of Team Galactic, appearing across various Pokémon media. In Pokémon Generations, he holds the title of Commander, though his specific actions in that series remain undocumented.
Across other adaptations, he acts as one of the organization's secondary antagonists, distinguished by his calm and cool demeanor in contrast to his more impulsive colleagues. He often functions as a second-in-command during the leader's absence.
In the core series games, Saturn first appears at Lake Valor after Team Galactic detonates explosives to capture the Legendary Pokémon Azelf. He is battled and defeated inside Azelf's cave. He later oversees the captured Legendary Pokémon at the Team Galactic headquarters, where he is defeated again, leading to their release. He admits to not fully understanding his leader's plans. After the main events, Saturn is seen with the remnants of Team Galactic, contemplating reforming the group for positive ends, and he is the only commander who refuses to participate in a fellow member's later schemes.
In the anime, Saturn oversees operations such as assigning the theft of the Adamant Orb and traveling to Veilstone City to steal meteors for material to create the Red Chain. He successfully acquires both the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs and, with external help, captures the Lake Guardians. The Red Chain is used to summon Dialga and Palkia at Spear Pillar to create a new world, but the plan fails. Intending to follow his leader into the new world, Saturn is deemed useless and left behind. He is arrested but later escapes. In a subsequent attempt to reunite with his leader, he captures Heatran to harness its power and absorb a fragment of Arceus's energy to open a dimensional gateway. This plan also fails, and Heatran goes out of control. Saturn is arrested again after Arceus closes the gateway.
In Pokémon Masters, Saturn first appears with the rest of Team Galactic on a beach. He participates in efforts to technologically replicate the power of Sync Stones and Sygna Suits. After several battles and defeats, he and the other commanders begin questioning their loyalty upon realizing their leader scorns emotion and would discard them once they are no longer useful. Saturn alone reveals how their leader used Darkrai to experiment on Team Galactic grunts. The commanders eventually form a truce with the heroes to find their missing leader. Saturn teams up with Dawn, and they later discover a disguised individual who reveals their leader's location. They then work together to awaken their leader from a nightmare realm, after which they depart willingly with him.
Saturn's known Pokémon include Bronzor, used to steal the Spear Key from Solaceon Ruins and defeat numerous Unown, and Toxicroak, which defends against opponents and assists in stealing the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs. Toxicroak knows attacks such as Sludge Bomb and Dark Pulse. In a different adaptation, his team also includes Kadabra.
