Description
Gallet Revolt is the main protagonist of his anime series. He is a teenage boy, approximately sixteen to seventeen years old, with red hair featuring distinct pinkish highlights in the front and green eyes. His typical initial outfit consists of a light purple hoodie worn under a black school uniform with red and white accents, paired with grey pants and brown shoes. Later in his journey, his attire changes to a long purple coat with a short white cloak, golden accessories, a plum-colored turtleneck, a black sleeveless vest, grey pants, and black shoes. When engaging in a formal battle, he dons a specialized form consisting of a black, spandex-like inner suit complemented by steel armor and a dramatic purple cape featuring ripped edges, with his Life Counter displayed on his chest. This battle form evolves visually during combat, as the cape transforms into a dark-red coat with black accents and flame-like trim, while the silver accents on his armor turn to gold, signifying a power enhancement.
Gallet is a member of the Mauve, a race characterized by its purple blood and subject to systemic discrimination and harassment from both Humans and Mazoku. This prejudice marked his childhood, but his father consistently provided comfort and advocated for the peaceful coexistence of all races. This traumatic childhood culminated in a pivotal, horrific event when Gallet discovered his father murdered in a rain-soaked alley, leaving him with lasting trauma and a phobia of blood. This experience fundamentally shaped his personality, making him cold, reserved, and serious, in stark contrast to more traditionally cheerful protagonists. He actively suppresses his own fears to avoid appearing weak, particularly in front of the vulnerable children he later comes to protect. Despite his stoic exterior, Gallet possesses an underlying compassionate nature and tries to put on a smile for those who care about him. He holds a firm, principled belief that conflicts should be resolved through the card game Battle Spirits rather than through physical violence.
Fleeing the Mauve Special Zone after his father's murder, Gallet escapes to an undeveloped slum area called Vanilla. There, he takes on the responsibility of caring for the local orphans and uses his considerable skills in Battle Spirits to fight others and win food and supplies for the children. His journey becomes more directed after he witnesses the assassination of a political figure named Lucian Parx during a riot. The sight of blood triggers a panic attack linked to his past trauma and awakens his latent power as the Purple Core Lightbearer. Following this event, he enters a Mauve academy to study alongside Lucian's son, Varte Parx. The two become friends, but their bond fractures over a deep ideological conflict. While Varte embraces armed revolution against the oppressive Unified Government, Gallet opposes violent methods, intervening to protect a corrupt official from Varte's gunfire. Their clash of ideals culminates in a card battle that Gallet wins, leading him to leave the academy and abandon his father's initially passive will to actively pursue his father's original mission: finding legendary cards and seeking a path toward the peaceful coexistence of Mob, humans, and demons.
Gallet's primary motivation is to find a way for his people and the other races to live together in harmony, a vision inherited from his father. His role in the story is that of a revolutionary who seeks this change through non-violent means, often coming into direct conflict with former friends like Varte who seek more aggressive solutions. Key relationships in his life include his cooperative friendship with Lime, a fellow resident of Vanilla with whom he jointly cares for the children and manages resources. His relationship with Varte is central, evolving from camaraderie to profound opposition rooted in their differing responses to shared oppression and grief. As the Purple Core Lightbearer, he also inherits a connection to a lineage of previous core bearers, such as Mai Viole. Throughout his journey, he confronts other powerful figures like Vizarga, the man who reveals himself to be the former King of the World, and defeats other key characters like Brandon, challenging their discriminatory worldviews.
Gallet's development shows a clear trajectory from trauma-induced isolation toward increased determination to forge his own path. He moves from simply surviving in Vanilla to actively opposing corrupt officials and, later, to taking a stand against world-altering events, such as announcing a "Grand Reset" to fuse worlds in an attempt to force harmony. He channels all of his convictions and ideals through the game of Battle Spirits, maintaining his core aversion to bloodshed while becoming a decisive force for change.
In terms of notable abilities, Gallet possesses an excellent brain and a photographic memory, able to remember everything he sees once. His primary strength is as a highly skilled Battle Spirits player. His preferred card color is Purple, and his main strategy revolves around a deck focused on Primals or Evil Shadows. His key ace spirit is The DragonKnight Swordius-Dragoon. His playstyle uses Nexus cards and Camelot Knight X to allow for continuous card drawing and maintain a strong defense. This setup fuels his main win condition: enabling the Rebirth evolution of Swordius-Dragoon into its more powerful form, The DragonRideEmperor Dragonic-Arthur (also known as The DragonKnightEmperor Dragonic-Arthur), a spirit that can clear the opponent's entire field when summoned. In later parts of his story, his deck evolves to incorporate multi-color elements, including White and all colors, with spirits like The HellRideEmperor Dragonic-Arthur and The WingDeity Grand-Woden-Zwei, and the powerful nexus card World Mirage, reflecting his broadening experiences and alliances.
