Description
Siegfried Kircheis was born on January 14, 776 UC to middle-class parents in the Galactic Empire. During his childhood in a quiet neighborhood, the von Müsel family moved next door. He immediately befriended Reinhard von Müsel and his sister Annerose, developing a deep affection for Annerose. He shared Reinhard's devastation when Kaiser Friedrich IV took Annerose as a concubine. Following this event, Kircheis swore an oath to help Reinhard gain sufficient power to free her, committing to future treason against the Empire. Both entered the Imperial Academy, Reinhard choosing the military as the fastest path to power for commoners and low nobility.

Kircheis became Reinhard's closest confidant, often regarded as his "shadow," their bond characterized by mutual devotion. Reinhard considered Kircheis an extension of himself. Kircheis followed Reinhard through every military assignment, rising through the ranks alongside him. He reached the rank of High Admiral by 796 UC, commanding the flagship *Barbarossa*. Despite perceptions as Reinhard's subordinate, Kircheis demonstrated exceptional tactical prowess independently during the Castrop Rebellion and the Free Planets Alliance's invasion of the Empire.

During the Alliance invasion, Kircheis targeted supply fleets, forcing Alliance forces to forage and inciting revolts among Imperial citizens. At the Battle of Amritsar Starzone, he deployed directional seffle particle generators to clear a path through Alliance minefields, enabling Imperial forces to flank the Alliance fleet. This decisive action contributed significantly to the Imperial victory, earning him promotion to High Admiral.

In the Imperial Civil War, Kircheis suppressed revolts in the frontier worlds. His most notable achievement was defeating Marquis Littenheim's larger fleet (50,000 ships vs. his 40,000) by leading a detachment of 800 ships through enemy formations, causing chaos and routing Littenheim's forces. After seizing Garmisch Fortress with minimal casualties, he eliminated remaining Lippstadt League presence in the frontier.

Kircheis maintained a strong moral compass, frequently tempering Reinhard's ambitions and volatile tendencies. He openly disapproved of Paul von Oberstein's ruthless methods, creating tension among Reinhard's subordinates. This ethical stance culminated when Kircheis confronted Reinhard about the Westerland Massacre, expressing profound disapproval of sacrificing civilian lives for political gain. Though he temporarily set aside the issue after Reinhard asserted authority, he maintained faith in Reinhard's inherent goodness.

Kircheis died on September 9, 797 UC during an assassination attempt on Reinhard by Commodore Ansbach. As Ansbach fired a rocket launcher concealed in Duke Braunschweig's body, Kircheis lunged at the assassin, altering the rocket's trajectory. He sustained two particle beam wounds from Ansbach's ring laser during the struggle – one through the chest and a fatal shot to the neck. With his dying words, he asked Reinhard to inform Annerose he had kept his promise and extracted a final vow for Reinhard to "conquer the universe."

Posthumously promoted to Fleet Admiral, Kircheis was buried in Odin's Central Imperial Graveyard under a tombstone inscribed "Mein Freund" (My Friend). His death left a lasting void in Reinhard's leadership, with key figures like Mittermeyer, Reuenthal, and Hildegard von Mariendorf frequently reflecting on how his presence might have altered subsequent events. Yang Wen-li similarly believed Kircheis's survival could have facilitated peaceful coexistence between the Empire and Alliance. Reinhard preserved a locket containing Kircheis's hair and a photo of their childhood with Annerose, symbolizing his enduring significance.
