Description
Koto manifests as two distinct yet intrinsically linked individuals. The first, known as Elder Koto or Mother, began existence as a drawing animated by Myoue's power, utilizing special black ink and the sacred mallet artifact. Created long ago, she became the original inhabitant of the Looking Glass City, a reality separate from the ordinary world. She married Myoue, bearing three children: Yakushimaru, Kurama, and Yase.

Elder Koto possessed a vibrant, energetic spirit and fierce protectiveness towards her family and the city she helped shape. Wielding the mallet allowed her to manifest imagination, directly forming the Looking Glass City and its denizens. However, growing concerns over the city's stability and the nature of her own existence prompted a profound sacrifice. To shield her family and the city from potential dissolution tied to her origins, she departed, sealing herself away using the mallet's power. Her physical absence created a deep void, profoundly impacting Myoue and their children.

The second, Younger Koto, grew up in the ordinary world, distinguished by her rabbit-like ears. Her biological parents seemingly sent her on a mission to the Looking Glass City to retrieve both the original Koto and the mallet. Upon arrival, she encountered the Otsu family—Myoue, Yakushimaru, Kurama, and Yase—who recognized her resemblance to their lost mother and wife yet understood her separate identity.

Younger Koto exhibits a boisterous, impulsive, and headstrong nature, echoing the first Koto's energy and determination, often acting without forethought. She wields a red iteration of the mallet, signifying her own connection to its power. Initially focused on her parents' directive, her motivations evolve to encompass understanding the Looking Glass City, the Otsu family's enduring grief, and her enigmatic link to the first Koto.

Throughout her journey, Younger Koto forms strong bonds with the Otsu siblings and Myoue. She confronts the lingering pain stemming from the first Koto's departure and the city's instability, compelling the family to face their past and frozen sorrow. She actively engages in resolving the city's conflicts, frequently employing her mallet and direct methods.

A pivotal moment occurs when the sealed Elder Koto communicates with her younger counterpart. The first Koto reveals her departure was a sacrifice of love, intended to protect her family and the city from the instability her existence might trigger. She expresses undying love and her desire for them to move forward, explicitly affirming Younger Koto as her own distinct person, not a replacement.

Accepting this message, Younger Koto conveys Elder Koto's feelings to the Otsu family, facilitating their emotional healing and acceptance of her choice. Following this resolution, Younger Koto elects to remain in the Looking Glass City with the Otsu family. She forges her own life and relationships there, distinct yet connected to her namesake's legacy, continuing to wield her mallet and embracing her role within the city and her found family.
