Description
Kaiyu appears in the anime True Cooking Master Boy as an antagonist and a member of the Underground Cooking Society, also known as the Dark Cooking Society. He is a young man with blue hair that reaches his chest and black eyes, and he is often depicted wearing a headband, beads, and a coat.

Introduced during the second season of the anime, Kaiyu serves as a formidable opponent to the protagonist, Liu Mao Xing. His role in the story is closely tied to the villainous organization, for which he acts as an agent, identified only by his name within its ranks. One of his key confrontations with Mao takes place at Mount Liang, where the stakes are raised significantly. Kaiyu forces the young Super Chef into a high-pressure challenge, demanding that Mao wager the maps leading to the legendary cooking utensils as well as his own life. This encounter highlights his determination to serve the Dark Cooking Society's goals by any means necessary.

Following Mao's victory in that particular challenge, a natural disaster provides an opportunity for Kaiyu to act. When an earthquake causes a water reservoir at Mount Liang to break, flooding the secret base of the society, Kaiyu seizes the moment. He escapes with Mao's maps and heads toward the capital city of Peking, prompting the protagonist to give chase. This action demonstrates his cunning and relentless nature, as he prioritizes the mission even amidst chaos.

In terms of abilities, Kaiyu is a skilled chef capable of competing directly with Liu Mao Xing. Information about his personal cooking philosophy and signature dishes is limited, but his position within the Dark Cooking Society suggests he possesses a high level of culinary mastery that makes him a significant threat. His motivations are primarily aligned with the objectives of the Underground Cooking Society, working to undermine legitimate chefs and obtain the legendary cookware for their nefarious purposes. Key relationships for Kaiyu include his connection to fellow antagonists such as Juchi, Ensei, Alkan, and Mira, all of whom were introduced as new characters in the anime's sequel and serve the same dark organization. His primary dynamic is with the hero, Liu Mao Xing, as they clash both in culinary battles and in a strategic race to control the future of Chinese cooking.
