Description
Anvis emerges as the primary antagonist in the anime's second season. Hailing from a clan distinct from Avinia and Gale's family, he coveted the Rite of Overlapping's power since childhood. His first attempt to seize it involved taking Avinia and Gale's mother hostage at knifepoint, forcing their father to perform the ritual under duress. The ritual failed catastrophically, killing both parents, whom Anvis subsequently murdered, leaving Avinia and Gale as Kuang Village's sole survivors.

Later establishing himself as ruler of Blackcastle, Anvis commanded the Ebon Riders and wielded a Kushala Daora monstie. He cultivated an aura of mystery, often appearing first as a silhouette behind curtains before revealing himself clad in male Kushala Daora armor and a large cloak, his face obscured save for glowing red eyes visible within his helmet. His core objective remained acquiring Kinship Stones to perform the Rite of Overlapping, believing it would grant him supremacy over all Riders. He dispatched the Ebon Riders to steal these stones, specifically targeting Lute's Kinship Stone.

Anvis demonstrated ruthless manipulation and cruelty towards subordinates. He deceived the Shadow sisters into undergoing the Rite of Overlapping, fully aware it would annihilate Noire's soul and reduce her to a lifeless husk, which he declared a "huge success." He also exploited Gale's presence within the Ebon Riders, monitoring him via Nuts' reports. After uncovering Gale's true loyalties, Anvis imprisoned him and later threatened to kill Shadow unless Gale delivered Avinia's Kinship Stone.

This manipulation culminated in Anvis coercing Gale into performing the Rite of Overlapping using Avinia's Kinship Stone. Though Gale deliberately performed an incomplete version, Anvis still gained immense power, manifesting as control over devastating storms. He immediately unleashed this power, destroying the town of Fulcradgeo and threatening to annihilate Gildegaran, declaring himself the world's new ruler and asserting the strong must eradicate the weak. His reign ended when Lute, Cheval, Gale, and Avinia confronted him, exploiting the ritual's incompleteness to achieve his defeat.
