Description
"Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON" is an anime adaptation based on the "Monster Hunter Stories" video game series by Capcom. The story centers on Lute, a young boy from Hakum Village, a secluded community where humans and monsters coexist through bonds formed by Rider kinship stones. These stones allow Riders to form partnerships with monsters, known as Monsties, and raise them as companions. Lute aspires to become a Monster Rider like his grandfather, Red, and his childhood friend, Cheval, who is already a skilled Rider.
The narrative begins with Lute discovering a rare Rathalos egg, which hatches into a unique Monstie named Ratha. Ratha is marked by a mysterious black scar, hinting at a deeper connection to a prophecy involving the "Black Blight," a destructive force threatening the world. As Lute and Ratha grow closer, they uncover the truth about the Black Blight and its ties to a legendary monster known as the "Black Dragon." This discovery sets them on a journey to protect their world from impending doom.
Throughout the series, Lute and Ratha travel across diverse regions, encountering other Riders, hunters, and monsters. They form alliances with characters like Navirou, a wisecracking Felyne companion, and Lilia, a determined Rider with her own Monstie. Together, they face challenges, including battles with powerful monsters and conflicts with the Blight-infected creatures. The story explores themes of friendship, courage, and the balance between humans and nature, as Lute and his companions strive to prevent the Black Blight from spreading.
The anime also delves into the lore of the Monster Hunter universe, showcasing the intricate relationships between Riders, hunters, and monsters. It highlights the importance of trust and cooperation, both between humans and their Monsties and among the diverse communities they encounter. As the series progresses, Lute’s growth as a Rider and his bond with Ratha become central to the resolution of the overarching conflict, culminating in a climactic confrontation with the forces threatening their world.
