Charles Campbell is an American voice actor, ADR director, and audio engineer with a career spanning several decades in the anime industry. He was born on November 16, 1968, in Houston, Texas. His career in anime began in the 1990s, and he has since become a prolific figure in English dubs, contributing to hundreds of series.
Campbell's career is marked by extensive work with major dubbing studios. He started as ADV Films' first in-house ADR audio engineer, working on classic titles such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Blue Seed, and Golden Boy. He later moved to Austin, Texas, to open ADV's Monster Island Studios. In the 2000s, he began working extensively with Funimation (now Crunchyroll), where he continues to provide voices for numerous series.
His voice acting filmography is extensive and includes a wide array of characters. Among his notable roles are Gran Torino in My Hero Academia, Fujitora in One Piece, and Hakuro in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. He has also played significant roles such as Wakaba Mine in Fairy Tail, Shuichiro Keido in Guilty Crown, and Chairman Kurihara in Prison School.
He voices the elder version of Souwong-Kandel in WorldEnd, Dr. Manelger in Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON, and Gensei Kihara in the A Certain Scientific Railgun series, including Railgun T. He is also the voice of Staden in The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, Lance in the Appleseed XIII series and its films, and King Gilgamesh in both seasons of The Tower of Druaga. Earlier in his career, he provided voices for Unsui in Air In Summer, the second Yoma form of Marou in Blood Reign: Curse of the Yoma, and Leader X in the ADV dub of Gatchaman. He also played Keiichiro Koibuchi in Princess Jellyfish.
