Description
Pandora, born into Germany's noble Heinstein family, lived an ordinary early childhood. Around age three, she discovered a sealed box marked with Athena's seal within a derelict building on the castle grounds. Driven by curiosity, she opened it, releasing the twin gods Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death). They instructed her that Hades would be reincarnated as her younger brother, tasking her with protecting him until the final battle in exchange for eternal life. When Hades was later born into her family, his defensive cosmos annihilated all life at Heinstein Castle—including her parents, plants, and animals—leaving Pandora the sole survivor. This event transformed the castle into Hades' domain and bound her to serve the Underworld god.

As Hades' loyal commander, Pandora led the Specters during the invasion of Athena's Sanctuary. Her servitude stripped her ability to see color, leaving her world in shades of gray. Hades granted her a necklace enabling interdimensional travel between the living world, Meikai (Underworld), and Elysion. Years before the main conflict, during a rainy night in Tokyo, she encountered the young Phoenix Ikki protecting his infant brother Shun. Identifying Shun as the ideal vessel for Hades' soul, she attempted to claim him. When Ikki resisted, she tortured him and placed a pendant on Shun to tether Hades' soul to his body, erasing Ikki's memory and making him believe the pendant was a memento from their mother.

After the Sanctuary invasion failed, Pandora retreated to the Underworld. When Athena's Saints breached the Wailing Wall and entered the Hyperdimension, she confronted Ikki in Elysion. Witnessing his unwavering resolve, she experienced a change of allegiance: she gifted him her interdimensional necklace, enabling him to reach Elysion alive. This act restored her color vision but was deemed treasonous by Thanatos, who killed her using his divine powers. She died in Ikki's arms.

In the spin-off *The Lost Canvas*, set during the 18th-century Holy War, Pandora exhibits heightened hysteria and paranoia in her devotion to Hades. She acts as a pawn for Hypnos and Thanatos, even sealing Hades away to ensure his focus on creating the world-destroying "Lost Canvas" painting. She later discovers that the artist Alone—not Hades—had been interacting with her, fueling her hatred toward him. Her backstory expands to include a childhood friendship with Partita, whom she mistakenly accused of stealing Hades' soul. This led Pandora to send Skeleton soldiers to kill Partita and her infant son Tenma. Years later, Partita—now a Specter—mortally wounds Pandora during a confrontation, though Tenma protects her from a final blow. Pandora survives long enough to witness Partita's defeat before setting out to find the true Hades.

Pandora possesses a deity-level cosmos but lacks physical strength. Her primary weapons include a staff or trident capable of breaking Gold Cloths, a harp whose music inflicts excruciating pain, and a ring that materializes serpents to immobilize opponents. She moves at near-light speed via teleportation. Visually, she is characterized by her black dress, accessories, and pale complexion.

Her character draws from Greek mythology's Pandora, who unleashed evils upon opening a forbidden box. This parallels her release of Hypnos and Thanatos, though her story reverses the myth by having her *give* a significant gift (her necklace to Ikki) rather than receive one. Her arc reflects themes of manipulation, tragic fate, and partial redemption through defiance.
