Description
Gohin is a giant panda and a licensed psychiatrist operating in the Black Market, a dangerous district where carnivore instincts are indulged. At thirty-nine years old and standing 205 centimeters tall with a muscular, heavily scarred physique, he cuts an imposing figure. His appearance bears the marks of his violent line of work: a destroyed right eye, scars on his face, and patchy fur on his back. He typically dresses casually in a yellow shirt, trousers, and boots, often with a cigarette in his mouth.

He functions as a self-appointed guardian of the Black Market, treating carnivores who have succumbed to their predatory urges and committed violent acts. His therapeutic approach is famously harsh and physical, involving confrontation and restraint rather than gentle conversation. Despite his brutal methods, his motivation stems from a genuine desire to help those who wish to change. He believes that carnivores can overcome their baser instincts and refuses to simply hand his patients over to the police, opting instead to confront them directly with his own strength to enforce his form of justice. This dangerous commitment has led to his family, a wife and child, leaving him five years prior to the start of the story.

The character serves as a mentor and surrogate father figure to Legoshi, the series' wolf protagonist. Their relationship begins when Gohin finds a panicked Legoshi in the Black Market, mistaking his distress for the symptoms of a carnivore who has eaten meat. After a forceful intervention in his clinic, Gohin helps the young wolf understand the complex, predatory nature of his feelings for a rabbit named Haru. Despite his initial gruff dismissal of Legoshi's requests for help, Gohin ultimately becomes his teacher, training him to control his instincts and fight without relying on meat. He provides crucial backup during a dangerous mission to rescue Haru from the Shishigumi, a organization of lions, showcasing his formidable combat skills.

Gohin possesses several notable abilities that make him effective in his unique role. As a member of the bear family, he has immense physical strength, which he has honed through rigorous training to subdue aggressive patients. He has developed a fighting style that does not rely on carnivorous urges, as he subsists entirely on bamboo and has rejected meat consumption entirely. He is a medical school graduate and a skilled surgeon, capable of performing procedures like creating dentures. In combat, he utilizes a variety of homemade bamboo weapons, including a crossbow and net, demonstrating marksmanship and tactical awareness. His psychological insight is perhaps his sharpest tool, allowing him to cut through a patient's confusion and identify the root of their turmoil with brutal honesty. Throughout the story, Gohin develops from a wary doctor into a trusted ally, consistently providing guidance and physical support to help Legoshi navigate a world where the line between love and predatory instinct is dangerously thin.
