Lynette Bishop, known as Lynne, is a Britannian sniper serving in the 501st Joint Fighter Wing. She is the daughter of First Neuroi War veteran Minnie Bishop and younger sister of Strike Witch Wilma Bishop. As the middle child of eight siblings, she developed domestic habits from helping care for her family, contributing to her reserved and occasionally clumsy demeanor. Before joining the military, she attended an all-girls school with limited contact with men. She enlisted at fifteen, holding the rank of Sergeant in the Britannian Air Force 610th Fighter Squadron, later promoted to Flight Sergeant and eventually Second Lieutenant. Her direct dispatch to the 501st as a rookie involved political considerations, as Britannian leaders hesitated to assign veteran witches to the joint unit. Initially, she struggled in combat due to low confidence and poor compatibility with assigned partner Flying Officer Clostermann. This changed when Yoshika Miyafuji became her roommate. Yoshika helped Lynette overcome her fears during a Neuroi attack, leading to Lynette's first aerial victory and a significant boost in her skills and self-assurance. Their friendship became foundational, with Lynette declining an offer from General Adolfine Galland to transfer units, stating she wanted to remain with Yoshika and the 501st. Lynette possesses the innate magic "Ballistic Stabilization," a telekinetic ability enhancing the speed, power, and range of projectiles like bullets. She serves as the squadron's sharpshooter and is noted for her situational awareness, with Wing Commander Wilcke suggesting she has commander potential. Her equipment includes a modified Boys Anti-Tank Rifle Mk.I and striker units based on the Supermarine Spitfire, marked with the 610th Squadron's "DW-N" code. Her personality is characterized by shyness, frequent apologizing, and a strong sense of duty. She avoids conflict but exhibits underlying obstinacy and reliability. Domestically, she excels at brewing tea and making candies, often suggesting tea during mission preparations, though she struggles with general cooking. She harbors insecurity about her breast size and aspires to become a "good wife." After the 501st's dissolution post-Gallia's liberation, she assisted in Gallia's reconstruction alongside Perrine Clostermann and Amelie Planchard, helping care for orphaned children at Perrine's mansion. She later returned for the 501st's reformation in Romagna. Intensive broom-flying training with retired witch Anna Ferrara further honed her magic control. In a non-canonical "What If" scenario, she retired as a lieutenant and maintained correspondence with Yoshika, who pursued medical studies. Her relationships include deep bonds with Yoshika and growing camaraderie with Perrine. She admires Wing Commander Minna Wilcke for her refinement and kindness, views Major Sakamoto as strict but dedicated, and finds Flight Lieutenant Barkhorn intimidating despite her competence. She also expresses curiosity about Sanya Litvyak's reclusive nature.
