Description
Nikka Edvardine Katajainen, nicknamed "Nipa", hails from Helsinki, Suomus (Finland). Her magical abilities manifested while enrolled in a military training school for Non-commissioned Officers, where her already evident careless attitude caused multiple incidents that "completely destroyed" her training unit. After graduating as a Flight Sergeant, she joined the elite 3rd Company of the 24th Squadron, Suomus Air Force, serving with Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen.

Despite exceptional combat skills, ace status, and significant Neuroi kills, Nikka became known as "Unlucky Katajainen" for frequently losing Striker Units. Shot downs, crashes, engine failures, and unforeseen accidents earned her additional nicknames like "Unit Crasher" and "The Second Coming of Crasher O'Hare". While these accidents never harmed teammates or fatally injured Nikka, the destruction of irreplaceable equipment led to her temporary removal from front-line duty. Due to Suomus's reliance on imported Strikers, she was reassigned to menial tasks like cleaning hangars and serving coffee.

In 1943, she joined the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing. Her reputation for damaging equipment solidified alongside Waltrud Krupinski and Kanno Naoe, collectively dubbed the "Break Witches". Stationed at the Joroinen Observatory in winter 1944, she briefly reunited with Eila Juutilainen and met Sanya V. Litvyak. Nikka possesses a tomboyish nature, with a boyish appearance and unladylike conduct. Though delinquent tendencies softened under friends like Eila and Hanna Wind, she maintains an exacting worldview, categorizing situations strictly as right or wrong. Intelligent but guileless and easily distracted, she often falls prey to Eila's pranks. Her straightforward nature and intense desire to protect her hometown can exacerbate attitude issues. While sociable, she sometimes misreads social atmospheres.

Within the 502nd, she formed a close friendship with meticulous mechanic Aleksandra I. Pokryshkin. Aleksandra's nagging and mechanical expertise mitigated Nikka's carelessness, frequently repairing her damaged Strikers, creating a dynamic where fussiness countered impulsiveness. Nikka's primary magical ability is hyper-regeneration. Synergizing with her snow weasel familiar's healing magic, she heals most injuries nearly instantaneously. This power constantly circulates magic through her body during flight, enabling survival of otherwise fatal crashes, potentially contributing to her combat and flight recklessness.

Her combat armament is an MG42 machine gun. Her Striker Units include the repeatedly repaired Messerscharf Bf109G-6 (No. MT-476), rendered unusable by magic engine wear, and the Messerscharf Bf109K-4, unofficially acquired by Waltrud Krupinski from Karlsland supplies after the G-6's total destruction. In "World Witches: Take Off!", she enthusiastically introduces ice swimming followed by sauna sessions to Hikari Karibuchi and others, showcasing Suomus traditions and fostering 502nd camaraderie. She is inspired by Finnish flying ace Nils Edward "Nipa" Katajainen, known for frequent crashes and minor injuries.
