Description
Takami Karibuchi serves as a combat witch in the 508th Joint Fighter Wing. Originating from Fuso and affiliated with the Fuso Imperial Navy, she was initially assigned to the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing. During transit to this unit, she suffered critical injuries shielding a fleet from Neuroi assault, resulting in complete magical exhaustion and life-threatening wounds. Emergency medical care stabilized her condition, but she remained comatose for three months. Recovery followed in Fuso after treatment by Yoshika Miyafuji. Temporarily returning to the 502nd, she participated in the Grigori hive's destruction, earning promotion to Flight Lieutenant.

Her combat focus initially emphasized ground force support, limiting carrier operations. Standard Fuso naval training in maritime navigation and carrier procedures enabled her seamless integration into the 508th Joint Fighter Wing when selected by Squadron Leader Shindou as a founding member. Prior collaboration with conventional forces in Libau provided familiarity with artillery systems.

Takami maintains a consistently cheerful disposition, radiating optimism and approachability regardless of rank or adversity. She actively pursues solutions while prioritizing unit cohesion. Aerial combat showcases her exceptional initiative, spearheading attacks against enemies with precise piloting and marksmanship.

Her primary magical ability is ocular-based Neuroi core detection, functionally distinct from similar powers. Operating like infrared thermography, it identifies core locations without physical contact. A specialized technique, "Absolute Eye" (魔眼, Zettai Magan), drastically accelerates perception, analysis, and targeting by consuming vast magical energy. Activation turns her hair and eyes red and enables simultaneous engagement of multiple Neuroi. However, this ability immobilizes her during use, drastically weakens defensive shields, and rapidly depletes stamina. Accuracy diminishes without prolonged core study, especially against complex "trick cores," and leaves her vulnerable to counterattack due to unaltered reaction times. Independent deployment is considered tactically suicidal.

Her equipment includes the Shiden Model 11 "Chidori" striker unit, a carrier-operable prototype later refined into mass-production models. After her injury, this unit transferred to her sister Hikari. Post-recovery, she utilized a mass-production Shiden Kai striker bearing identical fuselage markings. Her primary weapon is the Solothurn S-18/100 20 mm anti-tank rifle, wielded effectively despite recoil and size through semi-automatic fire during aerial maneuvers.

Takami's narrative intersects significantly with her younger sister, Karibuchi Hikari. Following Takami's injury, Hikari joined the 502nd disguised as her. Their relationship evolved through shared military service, culminating in joint defense during the Petersburg campaign. In a critical engagement, Takami's Absolute Eye failed to destroy a regenerating Neuroi hive, requiring Hikari's complementary "Contact Eye" ability for precise core elimination, reinforcing their tactical synergy despite divergent magical methodologies.

Interpersonal dynamics include Georgette Lemare's lingering guilt over perceived failure to fully heal Takami's injuries, though Hikari explicitly thanked her for her efforts. Takami maintains longstanding professional respect with Squadron Leader Shindou, dating to their shared service in Libau.
