This naivety leaves him susceptible to manipulation, particularly by Kisaki Kondō, who leverages his trust for personal gain.

Known as "Neko no Sakaki" for feeding stray cats near the restaurant, he balances this gentle habit with a turbulent workplace dynamic. Despite his managerial title, Hana Miyakoshi routinely chastises him—both verbally and physically—for his flawed decisions and perceived ineptitude. His relationships with colleagues remain fractured, marked by Miyakoshi’s hostility and the deferential respect of Tasaka, a former high school underclassman who idolizes Sakaki’s past as a fearsome delinquent.

Sakaki’s youth was defined by delinquency, earning him a reputation that still intimidates peers like Tasaka. Beyond Wagnaria, he maintains ties to Kyōko Shirafuji, a fellow branch manager, and Masahiro Adachi, linked to Jun Satō’s band from the original manga.
