Description
Originating from melon bread crafted by Uncle Jam to fulfill Anpanman’s need for a younger sister figure, Melonpanna is a heroic character. Her head is melon bread, marked by distinctive crisscross patterns on her face and a cursive "m" insignia on her uniform. She wears a dark green uniform with a light green belt, gloves, and boots, plus a cape green on top and orange underneath. Physically shorter than most heroes yet taller than Akachanman and Creampanda, she possesses large green eyes and a small green nose.

Infused at creation with the nectar of a "flower of love," Melonpanna embodies kindness, sensitivity, and gentleness. Though occasionally clever, she typically relies on Anpanman or others for rescue in peril. Her signature ability is the "Melo-Melo Punch," inducing temporary euphoria or affection to neutralize threats harmlessly or awaken those in deep sleep. She also produces "Melo-Melo Juice" from her head, reversing Baikinman's corruption on allies—its effectiveness wanes if Rollpanna's "good heart" power falters. Like other bread-themed heroes, she flies using her cape.

Her most significant bond is with her adored older sister, Rollpanna, whom she rarely sees, fostering persistent loneliness. Melonpanna's melon juice was used in Rollpanna's creation to forge their sibling connection, and she remains crucial for calming Rollpanna's "evil heart" episodes triggered by Baikinman. She views Anpanman as an older brother and treats Creampanda as a younger sibling, often assisting them in educational scenarios. Cheese, Anpanman's dog, frequently accompanies her patrols.

Debuting in Episode 200, "Melonpanna is Born," she appears in films including "Soreike! Anpanman: Kyōryū Nosshi no Daibōken" (1993) and "Soreike! Anpanman: Yūreisen o Yattsukero!!" (1995), where she and Rollpanna befriend a horse named Marin and confront Baikinman's ghost ship plot. Her character often faces vulnerability when Rollpanna's evil heart dominates, threatening her autonomy. Depletion of her melon juice, her energy source, causes weakness or fainting. While lacking a canonical birthday, fans unofficially celebrate her first appearance date, September 21, 1992.
