Description
Hailing from Baikin Planet, Baikinman arrived on Earth as an egg that hatched the very day Anpanman was born. His core purpose is to defeat Anpanman and spread germs, embodying harmful bacteria like black bread mold. His design reflects this nature and draws from demonic imagery such as Beelzebub, featuring fly-like wings, a zigzag tail, a slimy blue tongue, and a furry black body.

Personality-wise, Baikinman displays narcissism, impulsiveness, and rudeness, frequently praising himself and residing in a self-built castle. Despite his villainous role, he possesses complexity: a mechanical genius capable of constructing advanced robots, yet his plans often fail due to his own flaws. He harbors unrequited affection for Dokin-chan, frequently yielding to her demands despite her indifference. He exhibits an unexpected soft spot for his creation, Franken Robo Kun, though he avoids it due to its non-combative nature and tendency to deliver electric shocks.

Creator Takashi Yanase indicated Baikinman secretly desires a normal life but feels confined by his inherent role as Anpanman's adversary. This internal conflict surfaces rarely, like his hesitation to save Anpanman in the 2018 movie *Shine! Kulun and the Stars of Life*, where pride stopped him from tasting Anpanman's head. In non-canonical educational specials, he has cooperated with Anpanman.

In *Inochi no Hoshi no Dolly*, Baikinman constructs a massive robot inspired by memories of his own birth, tying into the Star Festival and the theme of the "Stars of Life" that animate characters. This action aligns with his recurring motif of building machines to challenge Anpanman. A consistent weakness across all media is his vulnerability to soap, which shrinks him to fly size.

His catchphrases, "Hahihuheho" and "Bye-baikiiin!" (uttered upon defeat), reinforce his identity as a persistent yet comical foil. His influence extends beyond the series, inspiring parodies like Vaccine Man in *One-Punch Man* and germ personifications in other Japanese media.
