Description
Baikinman, a germ-like entity from Baikin Planet, hatched from an egg on Earth the same day Anpanman was created, cementing their rivalry as moral opposites. His design merges Beelzebub’s influence with traits of bread mold (Rhizopus stolonifer), manifesting as a fly-like anthropomorph with a furry black body, purple lips, pink eyes, translucent wings, and a slick blue tongue.

A self-styled inventor, he engineers mechanical weapons and robots to undermine Anpanman, though his schemes frequently collapse due to recklessness or backfire. Driven by a fixation on spreading germs, pilfering food, and upending cleanliness, his core goal remains defeating Anpanman, whom he deems his fated nemesis. Despite his villainy, fleeting moments of depth emerge, such as in the 2018 film *Shine! Kulun and the Stars of Life*, where he assists in rescuing Anpanman but pridefully refuses to consume part of his head.

His relationships reveal contradictions: he pines for Dokin-chan, who favors Shokupanman, yet partners with her regularly. His creation, Franken Robo Kun, defies his intentions through innate kindness, prompting Baikinman to sidestep direct conflict while harboring quiet affection for the robot. In *Kuroyukihime to motemote Baikinman*, Princess Kuroyukihime manipulates him to spread darkness until Anpanman and Dokin-chan thwart the plot.

Physiologically, mildew encases his body, with exposure to soap or sanitizers shrinking him to insect size and stripping his protective layer—a weakness foes exploit. Over time, his mold regenerates, and newer episodes hint at adaptations using probiotic hygiene products. His speech drips with grandiosity, employing the pompous “ore-sama” to assert dominance.

Beyond the series, Baikinman’s design inspired germ-themed characters in Japanese media, including a Pokémon episode’s banned computer virus doppelgänger and *One-Punch Man*’s parody figure Vaccine Man. Spin-offs like *Mystify World: Mega Force* place him among villainous icons like Dr. Eggman and Bowser.

Though his origin beyond Baikin Planet remains unexplored, his antagonism reflects resistance to the franchise’s utopian ideals of cooperation. Struggling to align his destructive urges with a world rooted in altruism, his occasional vulnerability and moral ambiguity sustain his role as a layered, enduring adversary.
