Description
Miyu Edelfelt, originally Miyu Sakatsuki, is a central figure across interconnected narratives. Originating from a parallel world, she descends from the Sakatsuki family, practitioners of an occult religion venerating children under ten as "Children of God." This lineage bestowed innate wish-granting abilities upon her, making her a complete Holy Grail. Her early life involved isolation within the Sakatsuki residence, limited education, and contact only with her mother.
A catastrophe during her world's Fourth Holy Grail War unleashed a destructive black shadow over Fuyuki. Miyu unconsciously responded to pleas for salvation, nullifying the shadows. This act led Emiya Shirou to rescue her from the collapsing Sakatsuki residence. He brought her to Emiya Kiritsugu, who recognized her as the tool he sought for world salvation. Kiritsugu treated her coldly as a research subject, focusing on utilizing her powers before they diminished with age. Miyu formed a deep attachment to Shirou, creating emotional conflict for him over viewing her as a tool or a sibling.
Following Kiritsugu's death, Shirou confined Miyu to the Emiya residence, providing academic but impractical education. Near her tenth birthday, she inadvertently activated her wish-granting ability, wishing to become Shirou's true sister. This wish altered her physical traits, replacing her original red eyes with Shirou's amber eye color as symbolic proof. Shirou subsequently decided to treat her as family and planned to show her the outside world. During a visit to the Sakatsuki ruins, Julian Ainsworth intercepted them, accusing Shirou of theft and kidnapping Miyu. Shirou then participated in the Fifth Ainsworth Holy Grail War to rescue her.
After Shirou's victory, he used the Holy Grail to wish for Miyu to live peacefully as an ordinary girl. This teleported her to Illyasviel von Einzbern's parallel world, along with the Class Cards and Holy Grail ritual circle. There, Luviagelita Edelfelt (Luvia) discovered and adopted her, bestowing the surname "Edelfelt." Miyu became Luvia's contracted magical girl using the Kaleidostick Magical Sapphire and assisted in collecting Class Cards, initially viewing Illya as a rival.
In *2wei! Herz!*, Miyu confronted the eighth Class Card, Gilgamesh, who exposed her extradimensional origin and absorbed her. Illya rescued her using a dual-Kaleidostick technique (Kaleido Liner Zwei), but Miyu was later abducted by the Ainsworth family and returned to her original world. During *3rei!!*, the Ainsworths imprisoned her to sacrifice her as a Holy Grail, intending to evolve humanity for their dying world's survival. They tortured Shirou to coerce her cooperation. After Illya's group infiltrated the Ainsworth stronghold, Miyu reunited with Magical Sapphire and rejected Erika Ainsworth's friendship overtures. This triggered Erika's fusion with Pandora's Box, manifesting corrupted Heroic Spirits. Shirou was freed but severely wounded by Matou Sakura, prompting Miyu to Install the Archer (Gilgamesh) Class Card to protect him. The Heroic Spirit's ego overwhelmed her, leading to defeat until Julian intervened.
Miyu's personality evolves significantly. Initially stoic, socially detached, and dismissive of Illya's abilities, she exhibits heightened logical reasoning but stunted emotional comprehension due to her upbringing. Bonding with Illya fosters intense loyalty and protectiveness; she states her well-being hinges on their togetherness. Her dynamic with Shirou reveals a contrasting childlike dependency; she displays affectionate, sometimes spoiled behavior around him, enjoying animal-themed pajamas and seeking his attention. This defines her relationships: fiercely devoted to loved ones yet reserved or cold toward others.
Her abilities include wielding Magical Sapphire for standard magical girl powers, flight, barriers, and mana blasts. She masters Class Card usage faster than Illya, employing "Include" for partial weapon summoning and "Install" for full Servant embodiment. As a "Child of God," she could grant wishes until age ten, when this power faded. In *Fate/Grand Order*, she is summonable as a Caster-class Servant with skills like Magic Resistance B, Infinite Mana Supply B (gradual NP charge), and a targeted NP gauge charge/buff success rate boost. Her Noble Phantasm is "Wish Upon a Star," reflecting her wish-granting nature.
