TV-Series
Description
Shō Kurusu, also known as Syo Kurusu, is a student in S Class at Saotome Academy and a member of the idol group ST☆RISH. He stands 161 cm tall and is sensitive about his height, often wearing hats to appear taller and reacting defensively to teasing, especially from Ren Jingūji. His appearance features blond hair with pink highlights, blue eyes, pierced ears, and black nail polish, frequently showcased in stylish, unique outfits distinct from the standard uniform.

Born on June 9 under the Gemini sign, he shares his birthday with his roommate Natsuki Shinomiya. He has an identical twin brother, Kaoru Kurusu, who is younger yet taller and fiercely protective due to Shō's childhood health struggles. Their mother is an orchestra conductor working overseas, while their father is a stylist at Shining Agency. During childhood, Shō suffered a severe heart condition that frequently hospitalized him, with doctors predicting he wouldn't live past 12. This prognosis fostered resentment towards his body but also deep resilience. Inspired by idol Ryūya Hyūga on television, he took up karate to strengthen himself physically and mentally, ultimately overcoming his health limitations and idolizing Hyūga as a "great benefactor and hero."

Energetic, cheerful, and confident, Shō possesses a passionate and hardworking personality. He excels in karate and dance, plays the violin, and enjoys shopping. He dislikes wasabi but favors dairy products and exhibits recurring clumsiness, particularly with manual tasks. His relationship with roommate Natsuki Shinomiya is complex; they are violin rivals, and in the anime continuity, Natsuki inadvertently caused Shō's acrophobia by chasing him to a tower's peak during childhood, nearly resulting in a fatal fall. Shō eventually conquered this fear through encouragement from peers and the academy headmaster.

Across the series, Shō evolves from a solo-focused performer to a collaborative team member within ST☆RISH. His initial defensiveness about his height and eagerness to prove masculinity soften as he embraces his group role, acknowledging that his "cute" appearance combined with tenacity forms part of his appeal. In *Legend Star*, ST☆RISH faces rivals HE★VENS, and Shō's determination intensifies during competitions, highlighting his growth in teamwork and self-assurance. His color coding in ST☆RISH is pink, symbolizing his vibrant persona.

In later media like *Maji Love ST☆RISH Tours*, Shō performs in coordinated group outfits such as white captain uniforms, reflecting ST☆RISH's unified identity. His background as a twin and history of illness occasionally surface, emphasizing themes of perseverance. His brother Kaoru remains a supportive offscreen presence, while Shō's past health struggles inform his empathy during high-pressure idol activities like recording sessions, which he finds less stressful with trusted friends like Ai Mikaze and Natsuki.

Shō's character development consistently centers on transcending physical and emotional limitations. His journey from a frail child defying life expectancy to a robust idol underscores his resilience, and his interactions with ST☆RISH and rivals demonstrate his commitment to collective success over individual acclaim.
