TV-Series
Description
Makoto Isshiki attends high school with Yuuta Togashi and befriends him on Yuuta's first day. He has light to dark skin, short dark brown hair occasionally shaved off, and indigo or blue eyes. His standard school uniform includes a long black jacket with white accents, red-and-white tie, gold buttons, black pants, and brown shoes.

During junior high baseball, Makoto maintained a shaved head. He grew his hair upon entering high school to impress girls, but after creating and circulating a "cutest girl" ranking that sparked backlash, he shaved his head again as self-punishment. This led Kumin Tsuyuri to pat his head, triggering his lasting infatuation with her.

Cheerful, persistent, and openly perverted, Makoto admits his goal of gaining female popularity. He joins the Light Music Club to attract girls despite lacking guitar skills. He frequently attempts comedic or ill-advised schemes to impress them, such as exploiting his morals committee position for information gathering, yet persists undeterred after repeated failures.

His friendship with Yuuta begins robustly: he advises on Yuuta's relationship with Rikka and shares lunches, using first names. In the second season, they move to separate classes, interact less, and inexplicably switch to last names. Makoto's role diminishes, relegating him to background comedy during group activities like train trips or club meetings. He is excluded from major events involving newer characters.

Makoto peripherally joins Rikka's Far East Magical Napping Society of Summer to stay near Kumin. He rarely interacts with Rikka Takanashi, doing so only alongside Yuuta. His devotion to Kumin remains central, though she shows no romantic interest and eventually forgets him. During a second-season poolside part-time job, a girl named Chihiro briefly expresses affection for him, but this subplot drops.

Makoto never interacts with Satone Shichimiya across any media, missing opportunities during school trips or pool outings. His character arc concludes without development, maintaining his role for comedic mishaps and unrequited pursuits.

Trivia notes his recurring head-shaving, abandonment of music club activities, and later status as a humor device over plot progression.
