Description
Yuta Togashi, a high school student, once embraced intense "chūnibyō" in middle school as the self-styled "Dark Flame Master." He donned gothic attire with multiple belts, convinced he wielded dark flames, and performed elaborate techniques such as "Vicious Dragon Leg" and "Crimson Neowave." This phase resulted in social alienation, later becoming a source of profound embarrassment. Seeking a fresh start, he enrolled in a distant high school determined to live a normal life.

His resolve falters upon encountering classmate Rikka Takanashi, who persistently acts as the "Wicked Eye," a fellow chūnibyō sufferer. She immediately recognizes his past identity as the Dark Flame Master, forcing an unwanted connection to his former persona. Despite initial resistance, Yuta gets drawn into Rikka's club, the Far Eastern Magic Napping Society of Summer. He learns her delusions originate from trauma following her father's death; she believes finding the "Ethereal Horizon" will reunite them. Yuta gradually supports her quest, managing her antics with deadpan sarcasm and light physical corrections like head chops.

Their relationship evolves romantically across the series. They begin dating by the end of Season 1, though their bond is strained by Rikka's refusal to abandon her fantasies. In the film *Takanashi Rikka Kai*, Yuta negotiates with Rikka's grandparents for her independence, deepening his grasp of her emotional struggles. Her grandfather's sudden reversal forces Rikka's belongings into Yuta's apartment, leading to temporary cohabitation.

Season 2 tests their relationship's stability, especially with the arrival of Satone Shichimiya, the original inspiration for Yuta's Dark Flame Master persona. Yuta reaffirms his commitment to Rikka while accepting her delusions as fundamental to her identity. His personal growth is marked by occasional, willing returns to his Dark Flame Master persona to connect with her world, later adopting the true name "Guerzoniansus" or "Gelzoniansus."

During the film *Take On Me*, Yuta and Rikka elope across Japan to prevent her move to Italy with her sister, Tōka. Their journey cements their bond, culminating in a kiss and Yuta's unconditional acceptance of Rikka, including her chūnibyō. This signifies his complete transition from pursuing normalcy to embracing individuality and love.

Yuta resides with his mother and younger sisters, Kuzuha and Yumeha, assisting with household chores and displaying protective instincts, particularly towards Rikka. His personality blends diligence and empathy, though he reacts aggressively to mentions of his chūnibyō past. He occasionally exhibits hypocritical tendencies, dismissing others' help or overlooking his own lingering delusional habits. His name signifies "brave/bravery" (勇) and "thick/great" (太), while his surname combines "wealth/abundance" (富) and "evergreen oak" (樫).
