Description
Shinka Nibutani enrolled at Icho Private High School determined to leave behind her middle-school chuunibyō persona, "Mori Summer." As Mori Summer, she claimed to be an ancient mage communicating with fairies, authored the "Mabinogion" blog, and championed the phrase "Love is everything." This fantasy identity featured signature spells such as "Well of Urd" and the "Ultimate Explosion Spell," along with distinctive accessories like a veil and ornamental hair clip.

At school, Shinka cultivates a model student image as class representative and cheerleader, widely admired for her beauty and popularity. This polished facade conceals her more irritable and manipulative true personality, often directed at clubmates. She secretly retains physical mementos from her Mori Summer days, including bracelets and a simpler hair clip, and cringes intensely when confronted about her past. Her mission to erase all traces of Mori Summer escalates dramatically after Sanae Dekomori, a devoted follower, discovers printed copies of the Mabinogion. This forces Shinka to join the Far Eastern Magic Napping Society of Summer to monitor Sanae.

Throughout the series, Shinka frequently mediates relationships, particularly between Yuuta Togashi and Rikka Takanashi. She actively encourages Yuuta to pursue Rikka and assists Rikka in confessing her feelings. Her investment in romance stems directly from her Mori Summer persona's thematic focus on love. In *Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai! Ren*, she dyes her hair black in an attempt to avoid recognition but ultimately reverts to light brown after failing to reinvent herself. Her dynamic with Sanae evolves from antagonism into mutual reliance, evident during collaborative efforts like helping Rikka pursue Yuuta. Lite episodes reveal middle-school flashbacks where Mori Summer earnestly discusses supernatural concepts like angel summoning, causing Shinka profound embarrassment when recounted later.

In the film *Take On Me*, Shinka serves as student council vice president. She supports a plan for Yuuta and Rikka to elope to strengthen their relationship but is blackmailed by Rikka's sister, Touka, who threatens to expose Shinka's embarrassing photos. This compels Shinka to tail Yuuta and Rikka during their trip to protect her reputation. Lingering traces of her chuunibyō past unexpectedly resurface, such as when she dons her Mori Summer veil to counsel Satone Shichimiya, who deeply reveres the persona.

Shinka's name reflects her dual identities: her given name means "forest summer," directly referencing Mori Summer, while her surname translates to "fresh red valley."
