Description
Shinka Nibutani, a high school student, meticulously cultivates an image as a popular, responsible class representative renowned for her beauty and cheerleading skills. This poised exterior deliberately conceals her mortifying history as a chuunibyo who once embraced the identity of "Mori Summer," a self-proclaimed centuries-old mage. During this phase, she authored the "Mabinogion" blog, detailing her fictional life as Earth's last mage—complete with claims of fairy communication and the mantra "Love is everything."

Determined to bury this past upon entering high school, she deletes the blog, only to have her efforts sabotaged by clubmate Sanae Dekomori, an ardent Mori Summer devotee who possesses printed copies and initially rejects Shinka’s connection to the alias. To reclaim these copies, Shinka reluctantly joins the Far Eastern Magic Napping Society of Summer club.

Her appearance features long light brown hair secured by a pink clip. She briefly dyes it black early in the second season to evade recognition, but abandons this after failure, reverting to her natural shade. She occasionally wears glasses and braids.

Behind her friendly, polite public persona lies a blunt, irritable temperament prone to fluster, especially around clubmates. Reminders of her chuunibyo era induce intense shame, triggering physical reactions like wall-punching or floor-rolling. She frequently lashes out physically at Dekomori when annoyed or embarrassed. Yet beneath this volatility, she harbors genuine kindness and fiercely supports friends. She also displays manipulative streaks, exploiting others for personal ends, and occasional sadism—such as taunting Yuuta Togashi with his own chuunibyo alias.

Her relationship with Dekomori is fractious, defined by clashes over Mori Summer’s legacy and Shinka’s quest to destroy the Mabinogion copies. Despite mutual antagonism, latent affection surfaces through accidental moments—like an OVA kiss—or concealed concern for each other’s well-being, though both deny romantic intent. Their dynamic embodies tsundere hostility masking deeper care. Shinka actively nurtures the romance between Rikka Takanashi and Yuuta Togashi, coaxing Rikka through her confession and later endorsing their elopement in *Take On Me*.

Her character evolves from singularly obsessing over erasing her past to cautiously accepting it while guarding its secrecy. By *Take On Me*, she is student council vice president. When Rikka’s sister Touka threatens to take Rikka to Italy, Shinka backs Kumin Tsuyuri’s elopement plan to protect the couple’s bond. Regret follows when Touka blackmails her with threats to expose Mori Summer photos, compelling Shinka to join Dekomori in pursuing the eloping pair to shield her reputation. She ultimately halts the chase.

Trivia notes mention her ticklish feet and fervent interest in romance, which she channels into others’ relationships while navigating her own unspoken emotions.
