TV-Series
Description
Cocoa Hoto, the main protagonist, features vibrant orange shoulder-length hair, purple eyes, and frequently wears a cherry blossom hair clip. She stands 154 cm tall with blood type B. Driven by a lasting impression from a childhood visit, she moved from a mountainous rural area to a European-inspired town for high school. She boards at Rabbit House café under a work-study arrangement. During that childhood visit, she encountered Chino Kafū's grandfather and attempted a magic spell on him. As the youngest of four siblings, Cocoa intensely idolizes her older sister Mocha, fueling a strong desire to be seen as a dependable older sister figure herself—often described as having a "sister complex."

Her personality blends extreme optimism and infectious enthusiasm with a tendency toward distractibility. Cocoa frequently initiates social activities, though her focus wanes unless topics involve food, magic, or becoming an exemplary older sister. Despite her cheerful exterior, she struggles with low self-confidence, underestimating her own abilities while overestimating others' perceptions of her maturity. This manifests in persistent, often clumsy attempts to earn Chino's admiration as a surrogate younger sister. Her energetic demeanor sometimes borders on impulsive, like chasing rabbits instead of completing tasks or making grand declarations about future careers—aspirations that have included magician, lawyer, novelist, international barista, and bakery owner simultaneously.

Cocoa's relationships define much of her development. She forms an immediate bond with classmate Chiya Ujimatsu. Her dynamic with Chino evolves from initial annoyance to mutual trust, as Chino gradually warms to Cocoa's persistent affection, influenced by Cocoa helping her process grief over family losses. Interactions with Rize Tedeza and Syaro Kirima are more complex; Rize respects Cocoa's resilience, while Syaro initially displays hostility due to envy of Cocoa's extroversion. Over time, group experiences like sleepovers during storms or collaborative work at cafés help Syaro warm to her. Cocoa also mentors Megumi and Maya, who view her as a reliable senior.

Unexpectedly, Cocoa possesses strong aptitudes in mathematics and physics, capable of rapid mental calculations and solving complex crosswords. She relishes prime numbers and demonstrates scientific reasoning, attributing supernatural events to pareidolia. These strengths contrast sharply with academic weaknesses in liberal arts and practical flaws: she is notoriously clumsy, accident-prone, directionally challenged, and sleeps heavily. Her culinary skills are largely limited to bread-making, and she avoids tomato juice. She handles accordion and singing well separately but produces dissonance when attempting both simultaneously.

Across the series, Cocoa's growth shows in increasing competence at Rabbit House, such as improving her latte art, and her emotional impact on others. She helps Chino process familial grief, facilitates Syaro's group integration, and inspires Megumi and Maya. Moments of introspection reveal her awareness of being a catalyst for change, notably when she worries about being forgotten after high school—a fear explored through parallel-world narratives where her absence underscores her importance. Her journey culminates in balanced self-awareness: she acknowledges her scientific mind despite her whimsical exterior and subtly hints at understanding deeper secrets, like Tippy's true nature.
