Movie
Description
Reina Kōsaka enters Kitauji High School as a first-year student with long black hair often styled with face-framing strands, purple eyes, a light complexion, and a height of 158 cm. Her birthday is May 15 with blood type O. Her family raises and sells fish. Influenced by her professional musician father, she began piano lessons at age five and received her trumpet from her parents during junior high school, becoming her primary instrument.

She exhibits a calm, reserved demeanor with a strong sense of individualism, maintaining polite yet distant manners often perceived as cold. She speaks bluntly about musical excellence and avoids friendships with uninteresting individuals, resulting in past social difficulties. Her intense trumpet focus stems from a desire to become "truly special." She respects seniors but prioritizes musical rigor, clashing with peers over perceived mediocrity. She harbors a longstanding crush on band advisor Noboru Taki—known since childhood as their families were acquainted—reacting defensively to criticism of him.

In junior high, Reina and Kumiko Oumae were bandmates. After their concert band won gold but failed to advance nationally, Kumiko witnessed Reina crying and misinterpreted it as joy; Reina was distraught over losing her final chance at nationals at that level. This incident caused tension, culminating when Reina ran away after Kumiko questioned their national prospects.

At Kitauji, Reina’s presence unsettles Kumiko due to their unresolved history, though Reina displays no similar discomfort. Their relationship evolves as Reina gradually opens up, confessing her aspiration for uniqueness and expressing a desire to spend time with Kumiko. During a Daikichi Mountain date, Reina admits previously wanting to socialize and declares love. She blushes when Kumiko compliments her appearance or notes her discomfort in high heels. Physical interactions include Reina touching Kumiko’s face from forehead to lips and later caressing her cheek. They sleep next to each other, and a red string connects their pinkies in an ending sequence.

Reina practices trumpet outside club hours, takes private lessons, uses a Yamaha YTR-6310Z, and serves as instrument manager. In her third year, she becomes drum major. Her goals include attending music school and performing at nationals. She demonstrates increased empathy over time, apologizing for past rudeness and willingly interacting with wider circles like Hazuki Katō and Midori—a change Kumiko notes.

Her hobbies include solo movie-watching and attending concerts with her father. She favors blue and white, enjoys pasta and citrus juice, dislikes natto, achieves high grades, and served as freshman class representative during the entrance ceremony—briefly locking eyes with Kumiko before her speech.
