Description
Irma, also known as the Fang Assassin, is a character who operates in the shadows of the Queen's Blade tournament. Standing 167 centimeters tall with blue hair and pink eyes, she maintains a secretive and lethal presence. Her primary occupation is that of a sanitation worker in a slum district, a humble disguise that allows her to move unnoticed while awaiting orders. In truth, she is a highly skilled assassin belonging to the Assassins of Fang, a covert death squad operating under the direct command of Queen Aldra. Her job, as she states simply, is to accept missions from the queen.

Irma's personality is defined by the cold, callous, and nearly emotionless demeanor she displays while on duty. She is a ruthless pragmatist, willing to employ cruel tactics such as taking hostages, torture, and threats to accomplish her assigned tasks. This detached exterior, however, conceals a much more complex inner self. Despite her profession, she harbors a secret, unexpected fondness for cats, often spending her free time helping and looking after stray animals. This small act of kindness contrasts sharply with her otherwise brutal nature, revealing the hidden emotional depths she keeps buried. When pushed beyond her limits, she can lose her cool, showing that the emotionless mask she wears is not unbreakable.

Behind her loyalty to the queen lies a powerful and hidden motivation. Irma joined the Assassins of Fang not out of allegiance, but as a means to an end. Her brother was killed in a conflict caused by Queen Aldra, and Irma seeks revenge for his death. She endures her role as an assassin specifically to get close enough to the queen to eventually strike her down. This secret desire for vengeance is the true fire that fuels her actions and explains why she allows herself to be used as an instrument of the crown she despises. Her past and this burning motivation are known to almost no one.

Within the story of Queen's Blade, Irma's official role is to eliminate specific contestants who are deemed dangerous to the queen's regime. She appears as a formidable antagonist, first notably encountered while pursuing the warriors Tomoe and Shizuka. Her methods are direct and brutal, such as subduing Shizuka to use as bait for Tomoe. However, her path changes after she is defeated by Tomoe. Abandoning her original plan, she decides to win the Queen's Blade tournament herself to gain a direct audience with Aldra to exact her revenge. This leads her to break away from the Assassins of Fang and eventually team up with her former teacher, Echidna, to participate in the tournament as a rogue combatant.

The most significant relationship in Irma's life is with her mentor, Echidna. Echidna saved Irma after her brother's death and trained her in the deadly arts of assassination, including the Black Rose technique. Irma holds a deep, complicated respect for Echidna, yet their bond is fraught with tension and resentment. Irma feels abandoned by her teacher in the past, and this unresolved anger simmers beneath their interactions. Another key relationship is with Queen Aldra, the target of her vengeance, and later with Risty, who is ordered by Aldra to purge Irma. This leads to a near-fatal confrontation where Irma is left for dead, only to be rescued once more by Echidna.

Irma's journey involves a significant arc of disillusionment and eventual liberation. While seeking revenge, she is ultimately defeated by Risty and falls into a moribund state. After being saved by Echidna, she later confronts Aldra again only to realize that the queen she hated has changed. She witnesses a different Aldra and comes to understand that her past tormentor is no longer the same person, freeing her from the cycle of vengeance. In subsequent stories, she is seen struggling with amnesia and nightmares of her past humiliations, but she ultimately finds a form of peace, resolving her past and going her own way. Her character moves from being a cold, revenge-driven assassin to someone who can let go of her consuming hatred.

As an assassin, Irma is a master of several notable abilities. Trained by Echidna, she favors an off-hand fighting style, wielding a sword and dagger simultaneously with equal proficiency. She relies on speed, agility, and stealth, using her weapons in quick, technical strikes. One of her signature techniques is the Black Rose, which involves parrying an enemy's attack while simultaneously countering with her dagger. She is also skilled with throwing knives for ranged combat and is a master of disguise, a talent she uses effectively to blend in as a commoner or servant to get close to her targets. Her combat parameters are typically assessed as having high potential, technique, and agility, but lower attack and defense, reflecting her role as a swift and precise killer rather than a front-line warrior.
