Description
Katsuhiko Teshigawara, born January 18, 1996, attends Itomori High School alongside close friends Mitsuha Miyamizu and Sayaka Natori. His family’s construction company fosters hands-on expertise in machinery and explosives, skills pivotal to his survival during the 2013 Itomori comet disaster. Originally perishing in the catastrophe, he escapes death in the altered timeline by detonating the town substation and aiding the emergency broadcast hijack, enabling the evacuation.
After Itomori’s destruction, he relocates to Tokyo and eventually becomes engaged to Sayaka. Their bond thrives on affectionate teasing and shared loyalty, culminating in 2021 café conversations about weddings and 2022 real estate ventures. During a July 2021 weather anomaly, they briefly appear riding Tokyo’s Daikanransha Ferris wheel in *Weathering with You*.
Friendly yet bold, Katsuhiko risks his life for others while fiercely defending his hometown against detractors. He yearns for a modest life in Itomori despite familial expectations to inherit the construction business, finding solace in occult lore and *Mu* magazine. Though initially drawn to Mitsuha, his connection with Sayaka deepens into a devoted partnership.
A skilled cook and artist, he crafts meals for friends and creates vital illustrations guiding Taki’s quest. His name, meaning “overcome” and “prince,” and surname, blending “imperial order” and “field,” mirror his principled, down-to-earth nature. The character subtly reflects director Makoto Shinkai’s memories of a childhood friend destined for family enterprise.
