Description
Ed sports pale skin, a round freckled face, spiky purple hair, and brown eyes, complemented by a noticeably chubby build. His outfit includes a tight purple short-sleeved shirt bearing the Alpha Gang logo, black suspenders clipped to light brown pants, pink gloves, and maroon boots. Shy and frequently interrupted by Ursula and Zander, he's a habitual eater, nearly always seen consuming food. Ed often inadvertently jinxes the gang's plans by predicting unfavorable outcomes. Despite his timid nature, he occasionally demonstrates unexpected intelligence, accurately forecasting events like a Jurassic forest fire or proposing tactical insights that teammates ignore.

Orphaned in the future, Ed was adopted by Dr. Z alongside Ursula, Zander, and Rod and Laura's father, viewing Dr. Z as a father figure within the Alpha Gang. Sabotage during a mission to the Mesozoic Era on December 25, 2127, crashed their timeship in the present, transforming it into Zeta Point. In the first season, Ed acts as a bumbling sidekick in the Alpha Trio, often following Ursula out of fear. He primarily battles using the ankylosaur Saichania ("Tank"), occasionally summoning Spiny or Terry, with a poor win record. After Rod and Laura take over dinosaur hunting, the trio shifts to comedic subplots. The finale sees them ally with the D-Team against Seth, only to be ejected from the Backlander timeship for exceeding weight limits; they later help rescue Dr. Z.

Stranded in the Cretaceous Period after the Backlander malfunctions in Season 2, Ed and the gang initially try capturing wild dinosaurs but are quickly thwarted by the D-Team. Forced into an alliance against the Spectral Space Pirates, they undertake largely inconsequential side quests:
* In Ancient Rome, searching for pizza led to captivity and forced gladiatorial combat using Terry, escaping with D-Team aid.
* During the Caribbean arc, adopting pirate personas for beach exploration ended with their Alpha Pedal Glider malfunctioning comically.
* In Ancient China, disguised as Pigsy, Ed used Tank to dig a vertical tunnel and later defeated Gabbro's Carcharodontosaurus using Ultimate Earth.
* Captured by the 40 Thieves in Ancient Persia, they reluctantly fought the D-Team under duress to protect Dr. Z, losing to a Space Pirate-controlled Genie.
* Sympathizing with their orphan status in Renaissance Paris, they aided the Teen Musketeers, using the Alpha Jet to rescue them from Chancellor Richelieu and later assisting the D-Team against Space Pirates.
During the finale, Ed commanded Tank to breach the Dark Pterosaur's outer shell with Spike Arrows. Tank was defeated while shielding Terry from Maximus's Spectral Punisher.

The manga portrays Ed differently, showing hostility toward ungrateful Alpha Gang members and finding solace in computers. He trapped Max and Rex in a self-created 4-D maze, deploying dinosaur herds against them. Sabotage of his systems provoked anger, though he appreciated Max's compliment on the maze. His technological aptitude is reinforced in the DS game as the second boss, disrupting a town's power supply. He primarily deploys Earth-element dinosaurs like Saichania, Alpha Kentrosaurus, and Alpha Wuerhosaurus, occasionally using Utahraptor. NagoyaTV's website listed Ed's age as 24 during Mesozoic Meltdown; his exact age earlier in the series remains unspecified.
