Description
Naoko Yamamoto, a 39-year-old woman experiencing severe personal decline after job loss, succumbed to alcoholism and nihilism. During her husband's absence, she abused her young daughter as a "guinea pig" for sadistic amusement. Her husband discovered the abuse and left, taking their daughter.

The mascot Fav, from the "Magical Girl Raising Project" app, offered her power. Enticed by Fav's promise of strength to dominate the weak, Naoko accepted with sadistic enthusiasm, transforming into the magical girl Calamity Mary.

Calamity Mary adopted a Wild West aesthetic: long blonde hair, golden eyes, a beauty mark under her left eye, large silver earrings, minimal clothing including a cowboy hat, black neck ribbons, a brown cow-print bikini top, brown sleeves, a skirt, and knee-high boots with a thigh holster. Artwork depicted her with a whip, though she never used one officially.

Her magic permanently enhanced any weapon she wielded, augmenting destructive power, range, firing rate, and durability. Her definition of "weapon" included unconventional items like gasoline, rope, or poison used offensively. Her enhanced arsenal featured firearms such as a Tokarev pistol, AK-47 with bayonet, Saiga-12 shotgun, Dragunov sniper rifle, KSVK anti-material rifle, grenades, mines, and concentrated sulfuric acid. Later, she traded ten years of her lifespan for a fourth-dimensional bag providing infinite storage for her weapons and equipment.

Calamity Mary exhibited sadism, craved others' fear, and displayed volatile rage when defied or humiliated. She frequently drank alcohol and openly threatened violence, like pointing guns at subordinates for minor errors. She showed limited tolerance only towards Magicaloid 44, accepting her as a partner and henchman, though constantly threatening lethal retaliation for betrayal.

Operating as a mercenary for N-City's criminal underworld, notably the Kannawa Association, she contrasted with heroic magical girls. As a mentor, she trained Magicaloid 44, Ruler, Nemurin, Top Speed, and Numerin using abusive methods that instilled fear, particularly in Ruler. She harbored hostility towards Ripple for perceived condescension.

Key events include ordering Magicaloid 44 to assassinate Hardgore Alice to prove loyalty. When Alice survived and killed Magicaloid 44, Mary pursued vengeance. She used enhanced weapons, acid, fire, and encased Alice's remains in cement before discarding them into the ocean. Learning Alice survived later, Mary abandoned further attempts in frustration. She confronted Sister Nana and Weiss Winterprison over her criminal activities on a rooftop; Winterprison created barriers to facilitate escape. Mary then lured Ripple and Top Speed into a trap at a hotel, initiating a sniper attack and escalating to indiscriminate shootings on a busy highway to force their return, causing multiple civilian casualties and property destruction.

Her demise occurred during the battle with Ripple and Top Speed. Ripple tricked Mary into shooting a suspended glass panel, creating a shower of shards. Distracted, Mary was struck in the forehead by a shuriken thrown by Ripple, killing her instantly.

After her death, Nemurin created a non-sadistic clone of Calamity Mary within the Dream World. This clone assisted in training Masked Wonder. In later arcs (specifically Black), a shadow homunculus version of Calamity Mary appeared as an antagonist, attacking students during their second mock battle.
