Aoi Ogiyama is Subaru Hasegawa's childhood friend who attends the same high school, sharing a long history of playing basketball alongside him. She previously served as center for the Kirihara Middle School girls' basketball team and later aspired to become manager of their high school basketball club. This plan faltered when the club disbanded for a year following a scandal involving its captain. Deeply caring for Subaru, Aoi worries when he withdraws after the club's suspension, neglecting his studies and social life. She persistently organizes basketball sessions with former teammates Tae and Satsuki to reignite his passion for the sport, despite his initial rejections. Her romantic feelings for Subaru surface through frequent blushing and jealousy when other girls approach him, though she struggles to voice these emotions. Subaru perceives their relationship platonically, unaware of her affections. Discovering Subaru secretly coaching an elementary school girls' basketball team, Aoi initially misinterprets his intentions and forcibly demands he stop, fearing inappropriate tendencies. This sparks a confrontation resolved by a basketball match between her and the girls. Witnessing their dedication and reconciling with Subaru, she joins him as assistant coach. She later temporarily guides the fifth-grade team before reuniting with Subaru when the teams merge. As a player, Aoi demonstrates versatility, excelling at small forward or power forward due to skill and athleticism that contributed significantly to her middle school team's success. Standing 163 cm tall with a moderately well-endowed build, her height is not exceptional for basketball. Her personality blends self-confidence and intelligence with a tendency toward righteous intensity, often reacting violently (like kicking Subaru) when provoked. Despite this, she remains generally friendly and proactive, particularly in basketball instruction. Over time, Aoi shifts from initial hostility toward the girls' team to actively supporting their development, showcasing adaptability as both coach and teammate. Her protective nature endures, but she learns to channel it constructively, aiding Subaru's coaching while managing her unspoken feelings for him.
