Description
Marielle lives secluded in a mountainous house near the Swiss-French border, her isolation necessary due to significant health challenges requiring ongoing recovery. Largely confined indoors and experiencing loneliness, she passes time with quiet activities like playing the piano, which inadvertently attracts a tiny alien visitor.

A pivotal moment occurs when Marielle faces a life-threatening health crisis. During this event, a tear from the diminutive alien girl Memole falls onto Marielle's lips. This tear possesses restorative properties, reviving Marielle and sparking a deep friendship between them. Following this, Marielle's health begins a consistent, gradual improvement.

Her bond with Memole forms the heart of Marielle's world. Despite initial caution from Memole's community about human contact, Marielle and Memole build a trusting relationship through mutual affection and shared adventures. Marielle actively participates in Memole's explorations and vigilantly safeguards the tiny aliens' existence from other humans, particularly her strict governess who harbors a strong dislike for owls, which serve as Memole's transportation.

As her health strengthens further, Marielle transitions to attending boarding school. This shift introduces social challenges, including interactions with bullying or stuck-up classmates. During this phase, she meets Oscar. Their relationship evolves from initial acquaintance into friendship, and Oscar eventually becomes aware of and embraces the secret of Memole and her alien companions, joining their hidden world.

Her family situation involves a frequently absent father who travels extensively, even during her most precarious health periods. The narrative emphasizes her connection with Memole as her primary emotional anchor. In the official OVA, *Marielle no Hōsekibako*, she serves as the narrator, framing the story through her memories of the adventures shared with Memole and the inhabitants of Riruru. Her character illustrates growth from a fragile, isolated individual to someone capable of deep friendships, navigating social complexities, and acting as a bridge between the human world and the stranded alien community.
