Akie Yasuda
Description
Akie Yasuda is a retired Japanese voice actress born on July 16, 1957, in Tokyo or Kanagawa Prefecture. She graduated from Kanagawa Prefectural Tama High School and the Tokyo Announcement Academy. She was formerly affiliated with Dojinsha Production and later with Office Osawa.
Yasuda began her career in 1980 with her first regular role in the anime Ojamanga Yamada-kun. In 1983, she voiced the heroine in BemBam Hunter Kotengu Tenmaru. Her first leading role came in 1984 when she voiced Marielle in the anime series Tongari Bōshi no Memoru. This series became a significant work, as it was the first production in what would become a long-running time slot for Toei Animation's girls' oriented anime. Her portrayal of Marielle, a sickly and lonely girl, was a departure from the more energetic roles she had previously played. She also voiced the character in the related special, Tongari Bōshi no Memoru: Marielle no Hōsekibako.
Other notable roles from this period include Tomoko in Esper Mami, young Jabu in Saint Seiya, and Sanae in Ojamanga Yamada-kun. She also provided the voice for Iris in the original PC Engine CD release of the video game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Later in her career, her work shifted primarily to video games, often appearing alongside other voice actors from her agency. In her later years, her work was mainly in commercials.
