Description
Arashi Aota, a 17-year-old from Suginami, Tokyo born in October, carries a name meaning “storm” (嵐) and “green paddy” (青田), mirroring his turbulent emotions and ties to nature. He joined Team Summer B—a group for societal misfits—due to his bond with Hana Sugurono of Team Spring.

His childhood unraveled after his mother’s death in his high school years, leaving him reliant on Hana’s family for meals and estranged from his father, their relationship defined by silence and disdain. A former Olympic-hopeful swimmer, Arashi honed exceptional aquatic skills later repurposed for scavenging submerged ruins. A memory of swarming crickets during a storm imprinted a lasting insect phobia.

Arashi’s fierce protectiveness surfaced when he nearly killed boys assaulting Hana, exposing his volatile rage. Loyalty anchored his friendships with Natsu Iwashimizu and Semimaru Asai, forged during perilous travels. Initial clashes with Semimaru over Natsu’s treatment softened into steadfast camaraderie.

Awakening in a post-apocalyptic world, Arashi spiraled into despair upon mistakenly believing Hana dead, attempting suicide by drowning. Rescued by Aramaki’s dogs and rallied by Natsu and Semimaru, he reclaimed purpose, evolving from grief-stricken isolation to a resolute leader dedicated to reuniting with Hana and shielding survivors. His odyssey spanned deserts, ruins, and threats like carnivorous beasts and environmental dangers.

A pivotal mission aboard the ghost ship Fuji saw him dismantle a doomsday countdown targeting Japan’s remnants, cementing his role as humanity’s defender. Though his trusting demeanor sometimes backfired—haunted by guilt over harshness toward Aramaki during his suicidal phase—his knack for fostering hope and unity became his hallmark.

Complexities marked his relationships: Natsu harbored unreciprocated feelings he overlooked, yet he nurtured her confidence and quietly nudged her toward Semimaru. His devotion to Hana endured separation, fueled by relentless hope.

Physically athletic and tall, Arashi’s appearance shifted from neatly groomed to longer hair tied with a bandana. Charismatic, diligent, and justice-driven, his self-righteous streaks sparked friction. His mother’s death and turbulent past forged an empathy-centered worldview, prioritizing trust and connection as keystones for survival in a shattered world.
