Movie
Description
Leonhart Saijou, often called Leo, is a student at First High School enrolled in the Course 2 curriculum alongside Tatsuya Shiba, Mizuki Shibata, and Erika Chiba. He is of mixed heritage, with a father who is half Japanese and a mother who is quarter Japanese, and he possesses Germanic features including chestnut hair, green eyes, and an athletic build that becomes more muscular as he progresses through school.
His personality is easygoing, frank, and direct, with a bright disposition that makes him approachable. He is courageous and straightforward in his actions, though he can sometimes act without fully thinking through a situation. This directness frequently leads to heated verbal exchanges with Erika Chiba, a dynamic that others often misinterpret as romantic tension. Despite these arguments, he is loyal to his friends and can be easily motivated when asked for help. He values his friendships and follows the lead of those he trusts without hesitation.
In the movie, he joins Tatsuya, Miyuki, and their friends for a spring break vacation at a villa on the Ogasawara Islands owned by Shizuku Kitayama's family. What begins as a relaxing holiday quickly turns into a serious mission when the group encounters a young girl named Kokoa, who has escaped from a military research facility. Leo willingly participates in the effort to protect Kokoa and rescue the other modified magicians known as the Watatsumi series. He serves as a primary vanguard fighter during the conflict with the Stars tactical unit from the USNA, using his physical durability and combat magic to engage elite enemy magicians directly. At one point, he and Erika face off against the Stars magicians Ralph Algol and Ralph Hardy Mirphak, a fight that requires the assistance of Katsuto Jumonji to resolve.
His key relationships include a close friendship with Tatsuya Shiba, whom he respects and follows into dangerous situations. His bond with Erika Chiba is defined by constant bickering that conceals mutual respect and reliability in battle. He is also part of the larger circle of friends that includes Mizuki Shibata and Mikihiko Yoshida, with whom he shares a sense of camaraderie during the island crisis.
Over the course of the movie, Leo transitions from a student simply enjoying a vacation to a disciplined combatant. He demonstrates noticeable growth in his control over his magic during the skirmishes on the island, proving that his brute-force approach is essential for protecting his friends against highly trained military opponents. His role reinforces his position as the group's shield in physical confrontations.
Leonhart specializes in physical combat and is known for his overwhelming toughness. He uses Hardening Magic, which he applies to his own body to endure heavy damage, and his fighting style is centered on close-quarters melee. He employs a voice-activated CAD to enhance his combat capabilities, and his magic, often referred to as Panzer, allows him to act as a durable frontline fighter. His abilities are best suited for direct, high-intensity engagements where his resilience and strength can turn the tide of battle.
