Description
Yoshida Mikihiko descends from the prestigious Yoshida family, specialists in Ancient Magic like Shinto-style Spirit Magic and Divine Earth Magic, existing outside the Ten Master Clades and Hundred Families. The family's rigorous training occurs in pitch darkness, focusing on physical endurance and traditional methods including talisman rituals. Their ancestry links to dragon-worshipping shamans and guardians of dragon deities, with family leadership decided by the "Hoshi Oroshi no Gi" ritual performed on Tanabata night, based on magical prowess. His father, Yoshida Sachihiko, became head due to superior ritual performance; Mikihiko has an older brother, Motohiko, a future leadership candidate.

Appearing slender and nervous-looking, Mikihiko seemed aloof and antisocial during his First High first year, stemming from shyness rather than intent. He enrolled as a Course 2 student after a childhood accident severely impacted his magic. Attempting a dragon spirit summoning without specialized tools forced him beyond his limits, causing a mental block that slowed his casting and eroded his confidence. Deemed psychological, this led him to intensely study Modern Magic and CAD technology for compensation, with limited success. Despite this, he achieved top-three ranking in Magic Theory exams, behind Shiba Tatsuya and Shiba Miyuki.

His development accelerated during the first-year Nine Schools Competition. Joining Tatsuya's circle, he received critical advice identifying redundant spell structures, not activation speed, as his core inefficiency. Collaborating on a hybrid CAD, Mikihiko integrated traditional talismans with modern tech: a fan engraved with incantations connected to a forearm-mounted Psion wave oscillator. This streamlined his Ancient Magic, achieving near-equivalent speed to Modern Magic. The breakthrough restored his abilities, enabling a transfer to Course 1 in his second year and bolstering his confidence, while retaining humility from past struggles.

Mikihiko specializes in Divine Earth Magic, manipulating illusions and natural elements. Key techniques are "Thunder Spawn" (localized thunderbolts), "Earthshaker" (ground-oscillation illusions), and "Sense Tuning" (synchronizing senses with spirits for long-range perception). He also employs Spirit Magic for summoning and stealth, like "Echo Maze," which disorients targets with sound waves. His versatility extends to detection, disguise, and combat, making him formidable among elites. By his third year, he adeptly combined sequences of these magics, exemplified in Monolith Code matches.

Earnest and loyal but prone to anxiety, Mikihiko shares a childhood friendship with Chiba Erika, disliking her "Miki" nickname. He developed romantic feelings for Shibata Mizuki, initially intrigued by her "Crystal Eyes" perceiving spiritual phenomena. This connection deepened, with Mizuki eventually residing with his family and assisting in rituals. He proactively protects her, such as during a later-referenced curse attack by Mount Hiei monks, where he shielded Mizuki and Erika by reflecting curses onto the assailants. He deeply values his friendship with Tatsuya, crediting him for his magical recovery.

Mikihiko joined the Public Morals Committee in his second year, replacing Tatsuya. By October that year, he rose to committee chief, succeeding Chiyoda Kanon. By his third year, he wielded significant influence as chief, leveraging both magical and administrative capabilities. His growth continued through studying both Ancient and Modern Magic, and he remained a protective figure for peers in scenarios involving security threats or supernatural conflicts.
