Description
Oguri Cap hails from the countryside, enrolling at Tracen Academy following significant success in regional races, carrying her hometown's hopes throughout her career. She transferred from Kasamatsu Racecourse, where she dominated local competitions with only one early defeat by rival March Tosho.

She possesses long silver-gray hair reaching her thighs, featuring a distinctive ahoge and darker gray hair at the crown. A black-and-yellow diamond-patterned headband and a blue earring with a yellow stripe adorn her right ear. Her racing outfit includes a white sailor-style shirt with blue cuffs and golden diamond accents, a red neckerchief, and a blue pleated skirt with yellow trim, completed by black pantyhose and knee-high white boots boasting gray fur-like trim.

Her personality balances seriousness with a naïve, straightforward demeanor. Stoic and focused during races, she often displays a lack of social awareness. A defining trait is her extreme appetite; she consumes large quantities of food, effortlessly emptying entire rice pots. This gluttony permeates daily life, where she prioritizes meals and openly mentions hunger, asking "When’s lunch?" when distracted. Her future dream involves becoming a "doteyaki" (stew vendor), reflecting her culinary passion. She consistently expresses gratitude, never forgetting to say "Thank you for the meal" after eating.

Relationships significantly shape her development. Tamamo Cross serves as her roommate and primary rival, their competitions termed "Gray Showdowns." Key races include the 1988 Autumn Tenno Sho (2nd place), 1988 Japan Cup (3rd place), and 1988 Arima Kinen (1st place), where Oguri ultimately surpassed Tamamo. Notable rivals Super Creek and Inari One form the "Heisei Top Three" with her, featuring intense matchups like the 1989 Tenno Sho Autumn (2nd to Super Creek) and 1989 Arima Kinen (5th to Inari One). Fujimasa March remains her initial rival from Kasamatsu, the only one to defeat her locally. Berno Light, a Kasamatsu classmate, supported her transfer to central circuits.

Her racing career spans diverse achievements. After transferring to central circuits in 1988, she secured six consecutive graded stakes wins, including the New Zealand Trophy ("Unfortunate Derby"). Major victories encompass two Arima Kinen titles (1988, 1990), two Mainichi Okan (1988, 1989), the Mile Championship (1989), and the Yasuda Kinen (1990). Her signature trait became a powerful late-race acceleration, particularly in the final 200–300 meters. Though missing the Triple Crown due to registration issues, she earned accolades like JRA Best Three-Year-Old Colt (1988) and Japanese Horse of the Year (1990).

Media adaptations emphasize her perseverance and growth. The manga and anime spinoff *Cinderella Gray* (premiering April 2025) centers on her rise from regional circuits to national prominence. Her ending theme song "∞" reflects her relentless drive. The narrative highlights her adaptability to different race distances and surfaces, alongside her bonds with rivals and supporters.

Her cultural legacy includes induction into the Japan Racing Association Hall of Fame (1991) for her real-life inspiration. The phrase "Oguri 1st!" symbolizes her impact, notably during her 1990 Arima Kinen retirement victory. Fan tributes memorialize her "monstrous records and impressions" on Japanese horse racing.
