Description
Elena Amamiya, known as Cure Soleil, is a main character and third-year middle school student at Mihoshi Middle School. Renowned for her athletic skills and vibrant personality, she's called "The Sun of Mihoshi Town." Her family runs the flower shop Sonrisa ("smile" in Spanish) in the town's shopping district, where Elena helps out. She also cares for her six younger brothers when her parents work. Her father is of Mexican descent, informing her heritage, though she was born and raised in Japan.

Elena has tan brown skin, curved purple eyes, and thick golden hair reaching her chest, typically worn with an orange headband and small braids behind each ear. A beauty mark near her lower left eye and slightly thick eyebrows are distinctive. Her casual style includes a loose off-white top with orange designs, denim shorts, a purple choker, and white-and-orange shoes, adding sweaters, scarves, and jackets in cold weather. As Cure Soleil, her magical form features bright blonde hair in a long ponytail and an orange-and-yellow star-themed outfit with a star belt, light yellow boots, and a Star Color Pendant. Variations like Libra Cure Soleil and Scorpio Cure Soleil introduce ombre hair and zodiac-themed dress alterations.

Her powers stem from the Star Color Pendant and Star Color Pens. Transforming with the declaration, "Light up the sky! A sparkle full of emotion! Cure Soleil!", she specializes in physical combat, using fiery kicks and flips influenced by her athleticism. Her primary attack, Soleil Shoot, creates a fireball kicked soccer-style at foes. Enhanced versions like "Pretty Cure! Libra! Soleil Shoot!" use Princess Star Color Pens but show minimal visual changes.

Cheerful and optimistic, Elena often uses catchphrases like "Ciao!" and "Sounds nice!". Despite her popularity, childhood insecurities about her skin color caused isolation before she learned self-acceptance. These feelings occasionally resurface, making her vulnerable, especially when her belief in "protecting smiles" is challenged. A pivotal moment involves confronting rival Tenjou, who forces Elena to question if smiles mask true feelings, triggering a confidence crisis. Through this, Elena evolves from upholding a sunny facade to understanding deeper emotional authenticity with her teammates' help.

Relationships shape her growth. She shares a close "Sun and Moon" bond with Madoka Kaguya (Cure Selene), who supports her during struggles. Her initially contentious rivalry with Tenjou shifts to mutual respect after Elena learns of Tenjou's traumatic past and helps save her. Within her family, Elena admires her mother, Kaede, a translator whose career inspires her own aspirations. She responsibly nurtures her siblings, sometimes facing conflict balancing their needs with her personal growth.

Elena's journey involves reconciling her selfless caretaking role with her dreams. Initially neglecting her ambitions for family duties, she later resolves to pursue language interpretation like her mother. This follows honest talks with Kaede, who first criticizes Elena's lack of direction but ultimately supports her choice. In her future, Elena becomes a TV language interpreter, covering Hikaru's historic space mission, integrating familial influence and personal fulfillment.
