Description
Hotaru Ichijo is a fifth-grade student who transferred to the Asahigaoka Branch School from Tokyo following her father's work relocation. She had visited the area in her younger years due to nearby relatives.
She stands 161 cm tall, with a tall and well-developed physique for her age that often causes her to be mistaken for someone older. Her mature chest is usually concealed by loose-fitting clothing. She has neat collarbone-length black hair, bangs swept to the right, and brown eyes.
Her demeanor is generally calm, composed, and mature, making others frequently rely on her. At home or with her parents, however, she reveals a more childish, capricious side, freaking out easily and exhibiting sudden, intense reactions. She is deeply curious, showing keen interest in adapting to rural life, and is kind, polite, and considerate, though also capable of clear enthusiasm and a hidden obsessive streak.
She harbors a profound, precocious crush on her older classmate, Komari Koshigaya, which borders on obsession. This is demonstrated by her private creation of a vast quantity of handmade plush dolls in Komari's likeness, an endeavor that occupies an entire room in her house. She has also crafted plushies of her other friends, including Renge, Natsumi, and Suguru. She consistently refers to Komari using honorifics like "Senpai," "Koma-chan Senpai," or "Komari-Senpai."
Academically proficient in non-physical subjects, she possesses specific skills in sewing—which she employs in making the plushies—and cooking. She has also shown an affinity for robotics, such as using a kit to mechanize a dog plushie. Though not particularly skilled at exercise, she is surprisingly strong, able to defeat Natsumi in arm wrestling and easily carry Komari.
She owns a dog named Pechi and is affectionately called "Hotarun" by Renge Miyauchi.
Over time, she undergoes a gradual progression in maturity, becoming more comfortable with her friends while maintaining her outwardly mature appearance. She forms close friendships with all her classmates, including Natsumi Koshigaya, Renge Miyauchi, and Konomi Fujimiya, and is a student of Kazuho Miyauchi.
