OVA
Description
Miki Hoshii, a 15-year-old idol, begins her career at 765 Production before defecting to rival 961 Production and later returning to 765. Her father’s role as a Japanese senator and her mother’s position as mayor assure her a relaxed future, fostering an extremely lazy and laid-back demeanor. She avoids effort, convinced her natural looks and talents will effortlessly propel her to stardom—a belief reinforced by receiving roughly 20 daily confessions from school admirers. Despite minimal study, she maintains above-average academic grades.

Physically, Miki stands 159–161 cm tall with dyed blonde hair (revealing natural brown roots) and green eyes. Her signature outfit combines a green beach shirt adorned with a blue butterfly, a denim miniskirt, and orange shoes. She perpetually wears a silver six-star necklace, echoing the "star" kanji in her surname. Her speech uniquely involves third-person self-references as "Miki."

A pivotal character shift occurs in THE iDOLM@STER (Xbox 360) after the Producer rescues her from an oncoming truck, fracturing his leg. Overwhelmed by guilt, Miki undergoes an "Awakened" transformation: she chops her hair short, ceases dyeing it, and sheds all laziness for fierce diligence. This version obsessively calls the Producer "Honey," grows irritated by school suitors, and occasionally demands he kiss her publicly to deter them. Triggering this awakening requires producing Miki twice while avoiding negative communications or lessons.

In THE iDOLM@STER SP, dissatisfied with management, she defects to 961 Production alongside Hibiki Ganaha and Takane Shijou in the rival unit Project Fairy, reverting to her original lazy persona. Her personal song shifts from "relations" to "Overmaster." By THE iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars, she rejoins 765 Production with her unit. THE iDOLM@STER 2 retains her awakened personality but keeps her blonde hair and introduces a slightly relaxed demeanor; the game concludes with her sneaking off to Hollywood for an American debut alongside the Producer.

Within group dynamics, Miki exhibits competitiveness—particularly after being denied a spot in subunit Ryuuguu Komachi. She idolizes Chihaya Kisaragi as an older sister figure but mocks rival Iori Minase as "Deko-chan" (forehead girl). She often forgets honorifics, hesitantly addressing Ritsuko Akizuki as "Ritsuko...-san?"

Her hobbies include bird-watching (she nicknames a duck "Sensei"), chatting, nail art, and collecting cellphone accessories. She adores onigiri, especially her mother’s, using it as motivation. Despite her lethargy, she displays surprising speed when escaping uncomfortable situations.

THE iDOLM@STER Live For You! features Miki as a playable idol with her original lazy personality, omitting her Xbox 360 development. Gameplay centers on concert coordination without narrative growth. The accompanying OVA depicts her in a comedic pre-concert mishap: she, Haruka Amami, and Chihaya Kisaragi get lost and stumble upon a supposed mafia operation, showcasing her initial laid-back traits without advancing her arc.

Miki remains the sole 765 Production idol with a detailed game epilogue and the only franchise idol to openly express romantic interest—consistently directed at the Producer across media.
