Description
Haruka Amami is a 17-year-old girl from a provincial city who relocates to Tokyo upon passing an audition she believes launches a singing idol career. Unbeknownst to her, the audition serves as a recruitment front for Mondenkind, a covert task force protecting Earth from destructive lunar fragments called "Drops" using giant robots known as iDOLs. Her parents form a cheerful, close-knit household valuing shared time. Due to her rural home's distance, she commutes via the first morning train for her duties.

Initially characterized by optimism and self-doubt, she develops resilience after unexpectedly falling into the cockpit of the sentient iDOL Imber during a malfunction, forging a unique bond. The mecha exhibits a strong, seemingly arbitrary attraction to her despite her lack of training. Her primary role evolves into piloting Imber, requiring synchronization through an empathetic relationship. The mecha's performance depends on mutual trust and it rejects pilots treating it irresponsibly. Over time, she balances pilot responsibilities with an actual idol career, using singing to motivate Imber during missions.

Her development centers on overcoming personal insecurities while navigating complex conflicts. She confronts former ally Chihaya Kisaragi, Imber's previous pilot, who becomes antagonistic due to an obsessive desire to merge with the mecha. This rivalry culminates in a climactic battle where Chihaya attempts fusion on a floating island. She also experiences betrayal when friend and fellow pilot Yukiho Hagiwara is revealed as a mole for the rival Turiavita, though Yukiho later reconciles after fulfilling her duties. During the series' darker second half, she witnesses significant losses, including Azusa Miura's death and multiple iDOLs destroyed during the final confrontation with the Kill Sat weapon Vulturius and the singularity Aulyn. She participates in Imber's Heroic Sacrifice to save Earth from Aulyn's destruction.

Her combat capabilities include operating Imber's space-time and gravity manipulation systems, enabling feats like halting earthquakes that could level Iceland, shattering city blocks, generating island-sized explosions, and demolishing asteroids. Her compatibility with Imber allows relativistic-speed flight and orbital travel within seconds.

Quirks include chronic clumsiness frequently causing stumbles during daily activities and a passion for baking sweets like cakes and cookies to share with colleagues. Relationships define much of her journey: her bond with Imber borders on romantic interdependence, while her interactions with Yukiho and Chihaya drive key emotional and plot developments.
