Description
Rin Hoshizora attends Otonokizaka Academy as a first-year student and performs in the school idol group μ's as part of the subunit Lily White. Her designated image color is yellow, though lime-green or teal occasionally appear in her representations. Physically, she stands 155 cm (5'1") with a slim build, measurements of 75-59-80 cm, short orange hair, and light green eyes.

Renowned for athleticism, Rin excels in hurdling, soccer, basketball, and track, ranking among μ's most agile members alongside Eli Ayase. She leads group practices due to her exceptional dancing skills, with high reflexes, courage, and aggressiveness offset by weaker academic performance and conformity. Her unique trait is an extraordinarily sharp sense of smell, enabling effortless scent detection.

Energetic, optimistic, and tomboyish, Rin exhibits a playful mischievous streak. She frequently appends "nya" (a cat-like vocalization) to her speech and displays feline mannerisms, including a signature curved-mouth expression. Ironically, she loves cats but suffers from allergies. Action-oriented and supportive, Rin battles self-doubt while prioritizing others' feelings over her own—distinguishing her from peers like Honoka Kōsaka. She affectionately hugs and teases μ's members, especially Hanayo Koizumi and Maki Nishikino.

A childhood complex defines Rin’s background: teased for wearing skirts, she avoided them outside her school uniform. This insecurity initially made her reject joining μ's, fearing she lacked idol cuteness. Her lifelong best friend Hanayo Koizumi persuaded her to join, but Rin only agreed after securing Hanayo’s commitment to become an idol. Rin and Maki Nishikino later entered μ's together to support Hanayo, forming the subgroup "MakiRinPana."

Rin’s development centers on overcoming her skirt complex. In Season 2, Episode 5, she is selected as center for a dress performance but resists due to appearance-based insecurities. After persistent encouragement from friends, she performs, embracing femininity while retaining her energetic identity. This breakthrough resolves her complex, allowing her to wear skirts confidently.

Relationships drive Rin’s arc. Her bond with Hanayo is pivotal: Rin protects her, reassures her of her cuteness and passion, and physically guides her in training. Their connection deepens in the *School Idol Diary* manga, where Rin confesses she "cannot live without" Hanayo and wishes to be her bride, culminating in an off-panel kiss reciprocated by Hanayo. With Maki, Rin shares a dynamic of playful arguments over Hanayo and teasing that flusters Maki. She interacts warmly with all μ's members, joining Nozomi Tojo’s comedic manzai routines and group activities like stamina training.

Rin enjoys all sports and ramen but dislikes fish. Trivia includes her third-person self-references and calling Hanayo "Kayo-chin." Early material planned an older sister, but no sibling exists in canon.
