OVA
Description
Kaito Tsukigami hails from a family deeply entrenched in theater: his father is a renowned director, his mother a prominent stage actress representing Japan, and his older brother, Haruto Tsukigami, gained fame as a musical genius and Broadway actor while at Ayanagi Academy. This prestigious lineage cast a long shadow, fueling Kaito's intense resentment toward comparisons, especially to Haruto, and the perception that he coasted on family reputation – a notion he fiercely aimed to disprove on his own merit.
He enrolled in Ayanagi Academy's Middle School Division, achieving top grades and entering the High School Division ranked first. Starting in the Vocal Department, he later became a candidate for the Musical Department. During middle school, he shared classes and a dorm room with Rui Tatsumi, Eigo Sawatari, Toru Nayuki, and Ren Kitahara. In high school, he became roommates and classmates with Shu Kuga, placed on Team Otori under Itsuki Otori's mentorship.
Kaito exhibits a realist personality, favoring action over words. He reacts sharply to discussions about his brother and dislikes unscientific concepts like fortune-telling. Initially appearing cold, aloof, and dismissive of less-experienced teammates he viewed as noisy amateurs hindering his pursuit of Haruto's legacy, a significant shift occurred. When Akira Ugawa insulted him and his teammates, Hoshitani Yuta's defense of him as a friend, coupled with a shared effort to save a dropped bento, prompted Kaito to declare his intent to aim for the top alongside his team rather than alone.
His relationships evolved with this change. He shares a respectful bond with Toru Nayuki, a middle school classmate who understands his aversion to talking about Haruto. Frequent bickering with Kakeru Tengenji arises from conflicting views, though they acknowledge each other's skills. As roommates, he and Shu Kuga maintain a practical rapport, occasionally involving lending personal items. His dynamic with Rui Tatsumi is complex; Tatsumi acknowledged his talent and was inspired by him in middle school, while Kaito later recognized Tatsumi as a valuable peer. Despite initial hostility, his relationship with Akira Ugawa improved, with Ugawa later showing concern for his well-being.
Privately, Kaito holds deep respect and gratitude for Haruto, acknowledging his brother bore the family spotlight due to his own shyness. Haruto reciprocated this care, watching over his younger brother and requesting Otori to mentor him.
During the "STARMYU in Halloween" OVA, Kaito participated in Halloween celebrations with Team Otori and other students, engaging in pumpkin decorating, cooking, and navigating a spooky blackout and ghost sightings. His known appreciation for puns surfaced indirectly during ghost-saving activities.
Other notable traits include his piano skill, a fondness for strawberry milk prepared to a specific ratio, and being dubbed a 'Hidden Endeavor Otaku' by Tatsumi for his diligent work ethic.
