Description
Yuta Hoshitani, born October 10, is a male student at Ayanagi Academy with light brown hair, green eyes, a height of 170 cm, and blood type O. His path to the academy sparked when he witnessed an unidentified young man dancing gracefully in the rain. Captivated by the dancer's elegance, Hoshitani traced the logo on the dancer's jacket to Ayanagi, despite lacking prior music or dance experience. The dancer was later revealed to be Itsuki Otori, leader of Team Otori. This encounter became Hoshitani's primary motivation for enrolling.
Hoshitani possesses an inherently cheerful and optimistic disposition. He greets others warmly and persistently seeks friendships, actively striving to connect even when initially unsuccessful. His positive attitude and ability to rally others eventually lead him to gather a group. Despite this outward cheer, he experiences private moments of doubt, typically overcome by his steadfast "never give up" mentality. This resilience contributes to his selection as captain of Team Otori, where he works to maintain cohesion and motivation amidst challenges.
Within Team Otori, also known as "Stardust" (referring to themselves as space junk among the Star Teams), Hoshitani serves as leader under Itsuki Otori's guidance. The team formed outside standard audition criteria based on Otori's personal assessment. Members include Toru Nayuki (Hoshitani's roommate), Kaito Tsukigami, Kakeru Tengenji, and Shu Kuga. All members' family names contain kanji related to celestial elements: "星" (star) in Hoshitani, "雪" (snow) in Nayuki, "月" (moon) in Tsukigami, "天" (heaven) in Tengenji, and "空" (sky) in Kuga. All originally belonged to the Vocal Department.
Team Otori faced significant challenges, including demotion to a regular team (renamed Team P) after Otori withdrew from the Kao Council just before the Ayanagi Festival. Their performance slot moved to a Special Outdoor Stage. When a storm destroyed this stage, canceling their festival performance, the team insisted on holding an impromptu "Stardust Musical" guerrilla performance on the school steps. They performed "Seishun COUNTDOWN," showcasing Hoshitani's leadership in maintaining team spirit. Their repertoire includes songs like "☆☆forever★STAGE☆☆," "Stardust Movement," "Ready→Steady→Dream!," and "Growin’ Up".
Hoshitani appears as a main character in the OVA "Starmyu in Halloween," featuring Halloween-themed events.
