Description
Kiyoshi Shusse is a core member of the eccentric Kimengumi group. His family runs a bathhouse, an environment that directly shapes his public persona, as his habit of peeking into the women's section of the family business has cemented his reputation as the school lecher. This behavior earns him the nickname Mukiba no Kiyoshi, or Exposed Teeth Kiyoshi, which is a direct reference to his constant, toothy grin.

Despite these perverted tendencies, Kiyoshi is noted for possessing a fundamentally pure heart. Within the Kimengumi, he stands out as the most rational and intelligent member, often acting as the group's strategic thinker. This makes him the closest thing the group has to a voice of reason, though his own significant flaws prevent him from being a truly reliable one. His motivation often swings between helping his friends navigate their chaotic plans and pursuing his own romantic interests, which usually end in rejection. In one instance, he falls for a fellow student named Saori Fujita, but his declaration of love is openly refused.

His family relationships add depth to his character. His younger sister, Kiyoi, initially idolizes him as a cool big brother, but when his lecherous behavior becomes known to her peers and leads to her being teased, his role shifts to that of a disappointing older sibling. This highlights the contrast between his family persona and his public school image.

Kiyoshi's role in the story is as a constant member of the five-person Kimengumi, participating in their various antics and schemes. His key relationship is with his best friend, Jin Daima, to whom he is closest within the group. Academically, he shares the group's struggles, having failed the high school entrance exam three times before finally gaining admission to the school where the series takes place.

Throughout the series, Kiyoshi experiences little fundamental development, as his core traits remain consistent. He continues to leverage his comparative rationality while grappling with his comedic flaws, including his failed attempts to woo women, a pursuit reflected in his room decorated with posters of half-naked women. His notable abilities lie not in physical prowess but in his role as the brains of the operation, providing a sliver of strategic planning and common sense to a group defined by its absurd and unpredictable behavior.
