Description
Nagisa Misumi, alias Cure Black, originates from the Garden of Rainbows as a human protagonist. Initially a second-year student at Verone Academy who later advances to her third year, she excels as a star lacrosse player but struggles academically. Her journey begins upon encountering the fairy Mepple, triggering her transformation into Cure Black. As one of the legendary Pretty Cure warriors, she partners with Yukishiro Honoka (Cure White), their combined efforts dedicated to protecting the human world and dimensions like the Garden of Light from threats including the Dark Zone and its minions.

Physically, Nagisa sports short ginger hair, light brown eyes, and slightly tanned skin. Her typical casual attire consists of a black-and-white raglan shirt under a pink jacket, a red skirt, and sneakers. Transformed as Cure Black, she dons a black crop top with white ruffles, a pink belt featuring a heart-shaped buckle, black shorts with an overskirt, and magenta boots with leg warmer accents adorned by pink hearts. Her *Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart* outfit evolves to cover her midriff with a longer top and vest, a design adjustment responding to parental concerns. As an adult in *HUGtto! Pretty Cure*, she appears with longer hair while maintaining similar casual styles.

Energetic and passionate with a strong sense of justice, Nagisa often masks underlying sensitivity. Her signature catchphrases include exclaiming "Unbelievable!" ("Arienai!") when frustrated and "Lucky!" in favorable situations. Despite her athleticism, she embraces girlish pursuits like collecting stuffed animals and shopping, though prone to overspending. She possesses a large appetite, favoring chocolate, takoyaki, and foods with "yaki" in their names. Fierce protectiveness defines her relationships, especially towards her younger brother Ryouta and partner Honoka, whose safety can dramatically amplify her combat abilities. She harbors a longstanding crush on Fujimura Shougo, Honoka's childhood friend, frequently becoming flustered around him.

Her relationships drive significant development. The bond with Honoka evolves from initial rivalry into deep, unshakeable trust; Nagisa consistently prioritizes their partnership in battles and personal crises. This intensifies in *Max Heart* when Honoka's kidnapping spurs Cure Black to single-handedly defeat enemies for her rescue, explicitly rejecting fighting solely for duty over friendship. Nagisa also forges a key connection with Kujou Hikari (Shiny Luminous), progressing from viewing her as enigmatic to vowing protection as a friend, not merely a means to revive the Queen of Light. Her interactions with fairy companion Mepple involve constant bickering yet reflect mutual care, evident during their separations.

In crossovers like *Pretty Cure All Stars DX2: Kibō no Hikari—Rainbow Jewel o Mamore!*, Nagisa joins multiple Cure teams defending Fairy Park and the Rainbow Jewel from Bottom. She aids newer Cures like Cure Blossom and Cure Marine during villain assaults, showcasing her experience. During the climax, she unites with other Cures for the "Rainbow Jewel Solution" attack, harnessing collective Miracle Lights power to defeat Bottom and restore the park, cementing her role within the broader Pretty Cure legacy.

Further appearances include celebratory cameos in *HappinessCharge PreCure!* and *Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure*, plus a pivotal role in *HUGtto! Pretty Cure* battling Doctor Traum alongside all preceding Cures. Her growth from a reluctant heroine to a steadfast protector remains consistent across narratives, emphasizing themes of friendship, courage, and resilience.
