Description
Homare Kagayaki, a second-year student at L'Avenir Academy, possesses a reserved nature masking significant past trauma. A talented figure skater, a catastrophic failure during a crucial jump resulted in a career-ending injury and deep-seated psychological fear, forcing her away from the sport despite her natural aptitude. This event profoundly damaged her self-confidence, creating underlying self-esteem issues beneath her outwardly mature demeanor. She cherishes cute things, reflected in her rescued pet dog Mogumogu and a rabbit doll, revealing a softer personality facet.
Her life shifts dramatically upon encountering Hana Nono and Saaya Yakushiji battling as Pretty Cures. Initially reluctant to join due to her fears, she struggles to reach her Mirai Crystal when it appears, failing when her trauma resurfaces during a jump attempt. Targeted by the Criasu Corporation's Charaleet and witnessing her friends' steadfast support during a crisis, she confronts her fear. In a subsequent attack, she successfully leaps to claim her Mirai Crystal, transforming into Cure Étoile, the Pretty Cure of Strength. Her transformation catchphrase is "Making everyone shine! The Pretty Cure of Strength! Cure Étoile!" and she frequently uses "Cool, isn't it?".
As Cure Étoile, her design features a flight attendant motif: an orange mini-dress with blue accents, a pale yellow cape-like shawl, star-shaped accessories, and a distinctive blue and yellow flight attendant hat. Her hair brightens and grows into a curly ponytail upon transformation. She later achieves enhanced forms: the Cheerful Style, featuring a longer, more elaborate dress with rainbow and veil elements, and the Mother Heart Style, which grants large, translucent butterfly-like wings.
Key relationships define her path. She develops unrequited romantic feelings for Hariham Harry, struggling to admit them. Learning Harry loves another (later revealed as Cure Tomorrow) causes intense pain, nearly leading to her disappearance in a villain-amplified virtual reality world. She confesses her feelings in episode 43, accepts his rejection, and channels her energy into supporting his goals. Her childhood friend, Henri Wakamiya, remains supportive despite her earlier refusal to accompany him to Moscow for skating. Her observant and supportive mother is Chitose Kagayaki. Her dog Mogumogu symbolizes her protective nature.
In the film *Precure Miracle Universe*, Homare appears with the Hugtto! PreCure team and other Cure teams. Transported into space by Piton's Miracle Light, she participates in the initial battle against a dark cloud entity, witnesses Piton's disillusionment, and later helps clear a path of darkness using the Miracle Light on a cloud-covered planet. She joins the unified effort to purify the main antagonist Yango using the combined power of multiple Cure teams and the universe's collective hopes.
Her story concludes in the 2030 epilogue, where she wins a figure skating tournament, demonstrating her full recovery from past trauma and realization of her potential.
