Description
Ichika Usami attends Ichigozaka Middle School as a second-year student. She possesses magenta eyes and long, curled orange hair typically styled in twin tails secured with strawberry-shaped accessories. Her civilian wardrobe shifts with the seasons, featuring a pink dress and white sneakers in spring and a beige jacket with earmuffs in winter. While working at KiraPati patisserie, she wears her twin tails lower. Bubbling with energy, she often hops like a rabbit when excited. Ichika adores sweets and excels at decorating desserts, especially animal shapes, though her baking skills and academic performance need work. Her signature exclamations are "Whip, Step, Jump!" and "I have a bright idea!".

Her mother, Satomi, worked overseas as a doctor but frequently baked love-infused strawberry shortcakes for Ichika as a child. Initially distant from her teasing father, Genichirou, their bond strengthens after he protects a shortcake for her during a festival. She forms close friendships with Pekorin, a fairy who enjoys her baking failures, and classmates including Himari Arisugawa (her first friend), Yukari Kotozume (admired for elegance), Akira Kenjō (initially mistaken for a boy due to a crush), and Ciel Kirahoshi (a prodigy patissiere who later admires Ichika). She maintains empathy for Rio Kuroki (Julio), understanding his pain despite his betrayal.

Ichika's journey as Cure Whip begins when baking a strawberry shortcake for her mother's canceled homecoming. Pekorin detects "Kirakiraru" energy within the cake, transforming the unfinished dessert into a Sweets Pact and Animal Sweet during a confrontation with the thief Gummy. This triggers her first transformation into Cure Whip, the Pretty Cure of liveliness and smiles. Her Cure form boasts bright pink thigh-length hair, rabbit ears, a strawberry-adorned dress, and cream-themed accessories. Her abilities include enhanced hearing, high jumps, and a whipped cream lasso attack. Later, she wields the Candy Rod for the "Whip Decoration" attack and participates in group attacks like "Three・2・Wonderful A La Mode!".

Key developments include reconciling with her father during a Sweets Festival, granting the Cures the Candy Rod. In Episode 17, Julio drains her Kirakiraru, rendering her emotionless and unable to transform until friendship restores her. She later helps Julio rediscover his identity as Pikario. When her mother briefly returns in Episode 31, Ichika initially masks disappointment with a smile; heartfelt reconciliation enables her to bake a successful cake. Her epilogue shows her traveling worldwide with KiraPati to spread joy.

In *Pretty Cure Dream Stars!*, Ichika dreams of Sakura and Shizuku fleeing enemies. Encountering Sakura in Ichigozaka, she fights Akainu as Cure Whip and later enters Sakuragahara with other Cures. She breaks Samidare's mask, revealing Shizuku, and helps Sakura restore Shizuku's true form. During the final battle against Karasu Tengu, she merges collective Kirakiraru into a giant form to defeat the enemy, fulfilling her dream of flower viewing with friends. She also appears fleetingly in *Pretty Cure All Stars F* during the crossover battle against Cure Supreme.

Her surname "Usami" phonetically resembles "usagi" (rabbit), while her given name "Ichika" aligns with "ichigo" (strawberry), reflecting her motifs. Cure Whip references whipped cream, complementing strawberry shortcake.
